<peacedove>Liverpool just signed Lazar Markovic who plays in the same position as Sterling.
Sterling stated his case last season, and he is capable of getting better.
We do not want to see him regularly on the bench,
Would you play him as a striker?

    Yes or
    No.

I think BR wants an interchanging 3 behind the striker.

Can't see Sterling being used up top myself.

  3. Well, since he's not a striker and as not been employed as a striker, I'll have to opt for no <laugh>

Yes in that I see him as a consistent goal threat, though he plays deeper to make use of his passing and pace

Thierry Henry was a midfield player when he came to Arsenal. Wenger changed him to striker. So I am going to vote Yes

I think he could become a striker in an emergency, but I think he's better coming from a little deeper. Also, his finishing, is a lot better than it was, but it still isn't as clinical as it should be for a striker.

This. Though at 19 his finishing could become world class.

  12. He did well but he needs to do it more often before I start crediting him as composed. with the Man City goal, you could say he got into a great position but didn't know what to do next before seeing the gaping hole that Hart had left him!

Sterling is an attacking forward player who also poses a goal threat. He's not a target man or a six yard box man. His game is more dynamic than that. He needs to be running at defences and showing more movement in the last third of the pitch than an out and out striker. Leave that to Sturridge for now.

  15. He didn't move <laugh>

PS...I realise not moving can create space too, its my speciality <laugh>

Markovic on the left, Sturridge in the middle, Sterling on the right.

With Couthinho in the numer 10 role.

    Works for me.

So in a sense taking a similar path Walcott took for Arsenal - but of course Sterling is better as he's already got the ability to play in a number of roles. And he's only 19 <yikes>

  19. He takes a half a yard side step having seen the gap. As I said originally, he needs to do it more often to be considered composed. I did also say "you could say he got into a great position but didn't know what to do next" too <ok>

  20. This time last year, I was adamant he was just another Walcott; lots of pace on the wing and not much else. However, thankfully he proved me wrong last season. I now think Sterling is a very exciting prospect. If he applies the right mindset and is given the right guidance and coaching, he could become a truly great player IMO.
