Feeling a little nostalgic and reading my "QPRFC: The Definitive"

May 5, 1996 - v Forest away. Final game in the premier league....for 15 years.

    Sommer
    Bardsley Macca Yates Brevett
    Murray Barker Wilkins Sinclair
    Dichio Gallen

    No wonder we were relegated....

We lost 15 games by one goal that season. Ouch.

I was just about to say the same - its the strike force that looks lightweight

I thought that! Bardsley, McDonald, Sinclair and Gallen were among the very best seen at LR in their respective positions. Wilkins was finished by then but also one of the best in his first couple of years with us.

We just weren't the same once we sold Sir Les, that season was like watching someone bleed to death.

I was there. I remember the acceptance of relegation had set in and we were all singing, "Grimsby, on a Tuesday night..."

And then after Wilkins went we had the wonderful 'Houston we have a problem'...

Paulo Wanchope scored 5 in 3 games on trail with the reserves and they showed him the door...:headbang:

How much did that Itallian side (I think it was Lazio?) pay for Dickio?

He went for nothing at the end of his contract if I remember rightly, to Sampdoria where he was bombed out after a couple of games...

Dichio was never good enough in my book. If you notice in that side , no players bought in with the ferdinand cash, still i blame our demise to poor signings with that money.

You have to experience the lows to appreciate the highs. That's why we have a fatalistic air and go mental at any small success. Contrast that with Arsenal fans who are suicidal now despite 14 years of consecutive Champions League qualification! I'd like to see how they handle relegation and 15 years of Donny on a wet Tuesday, 546 managers, Mike Sheron and Flavio.....men & boys.
