I have been having a serious clearout in the garage recently and came across a suitcase filled with with all my Chelsea programmes. I am one of life's hoarders and amongst these is the very first game I ever went to at SB! Chelsea v Everton 18th April 1959. It was the day I fell in love with them and I never missed a home game until 1973 (the day I got married). I wonder how many people can remember the first team they ever saw when they "became a Blue"? Mine was Bill Robertson-Ken Shellito-Dick Whittaker-Sylvan Anderton-John Mortimore-Stan"bonecruncher" Crowther-Peter Brabrook-Jimmy Greaves-Les Allen-Frank Blunstone- Mike Harrison! and I didn't need the programme to remember them!
Good article blue! My first game in memory would be against Ipswich, I can't remember the exact year but it was early 90s as Porterfield was in charge! Wise, Fleck, Newton, Hall, Sinclair, Harford were playing and we won 2-1.
First game was a friendly v Colchester at Layer Raod. I believe we won 4-0 and Kerry Dixon was playing. Must have been late 80's i guess.
My first game was against the Spuds at **** pot Lane in 1967! My uncle was a spud fan & took me to watch them against Chelsea & I fell in love with the Chelsea kit and that was that! score was 1-1 by the way!
Well I'm only 18 so the days of the 1960s are a bit before my time! Went to my first game at the age of 2 in 1996 against Coventry but I can't remember the score. I am doing a thing where I keep all the programmes of all the games I go to as well as the tickets of away games, champions league games etc. I go to so it will be interesting to look back at it all one day!
I don't even need to click the link, as its so dully predictable. Come up with something new, wont you? Anyway, back to the topic at hand. It was when my older brother took me to a rumbelows cup match back in 1990 (I think). It was against Walsall, Chelsea won 4-1 on the night, goals were scored by Durie, Dixon, Wilson and Le Saux.
For the modern Thspud, football was invented in 2010 and ended in 2011. The floating Thspur has gone back to supporting United now
Not like him though, SD is usually a decent poster but for some unsung reason, is acting a complete ****.
Aren't you getting a little carried away here, it was only a little joke. Surely you've heard a lot worse from opposing fans. By all means say it isn't funny (it made me giggle and that is my criteria for judging whether to post something), but don't pretend it is a savage assault on you all. I like coming here cause you lot give as good as you get, but you are all acting a bit sulky today. I'll come back tomorrow and hope the banter's back again.
My 1st game at the bridge was against Preston Norf End me elder brother took me, think it was a cup game ( replay because the lights went out i think, may be some one could tell me the exact year cos i cant remember but think it was late 60s, does that qualify me as a fair weather fan .I managed to get on the pitch and pat ''Chopper'' on the back and that was it loved em ever since
I was there TEL! We went to Old Trafford and we (me and my mates) were right up the front! When Webbie got the winning header we went crackers! Partied all though the following day and thought I'd lose my job because I'd called in to say I was signed off sick!
