    Not at all.

If Caulker and Marshall agree to give it one season to see if we can go back up I would be happy with that.

If Caulker goes to the world cup he will be back before mid July. After all it is England he would be playing for.

Caulker won't be going to Brazil.

Marshie is happy with us and doesn't want to go. Would Marshie go to Liverpool just to bench warm?

I wouldn't blame either if they went to the right club for the right fee but we will be all the more strong if they stay.

Two sides to this argument as there always is. Some say Caulker and Marshall were shining lights in a poor side and that they will be snapped up by Prem Clubs. Others say that Marshall in particular only performed well because he had more shots to save than any other keeper in the Prem.

Must say Caulker has been culpable for some of your goals this season and I'm still not convinced he's as good as some are saying. I think he's overpriced too. You can't escape the fact that he was part of a defensive line up that conceded lots and lots of goals this season.

But Marshall? I think he's more than decent and I'd have him here tomorrow. I suppose that if you've got these two players saying they're happy to stay then you should take them at their word. The reason Newcastle bounced back up was because they managed to keep their better players when they were relegated.

    Fair points DB.

    Only time will tell.

I think Medel will go if we can get the right price but he is more easily replaced and probably has bigger ambitions.

I hope Medel has a great world cup and some European clubs get involved in an auction for him.

It will be a lot more difficult to get rid of Jones. He has the ability to batter most championship defences but is not capable of motivating himself. Probably the laziest player ever to pull on a City shirt.

Just can't beleievt hat a mid table Prem club won't come in for Marshall. As for Caulker, what would be the point of him staying. I would be delighted if they were both still with us, but I just don't see it. There are not many good DCs going around and one of the top 8 clubs will be looking at Caulker. Medel will leave at a loss but he is not needed in the Champ.

Bluey, the problem is they have now had a taste of PL and unfortunately as with most they all become Billy big bollox. If any PL club comes in for your player i can see them going.

Most are talking about Caulker and Marshall. The 2 who have caught my eye and wouldnt be disappointed if we went for them are Noone and Mutch.

Lots of different things that can affect this, relegations clauses and triggers that players may have.
What are the wages? maybe we would want to offload some for that reason.
It could be these players will be good to their word, at least until January comes along.

Hadyn says he would be happy with this lineup in the championship, I wouldn't be, there are a few championship sides that would have given good account of themselves against the bottom 6 (at least) in this Premier league. The fact we ended up bottom of it says to me we would struggle badly to get straight back up.

Ole tinkered with a side so deeply enmeshed in defensive play that he became tangled up in his own web, I expect better from him with a fresh start to a season.
Holding on to the likes of Caulker and Marshall will be a big bonus should they stay.
I think Tan will bankroll their wages ok in the championship, so it will depend on them or if the offer is too silly not to take.

dragon, how about when we were dominating the championship? he barely put a foot wrong when he had maybe 2 or 3 saves to make a match.

i can think of the chelsea dropped ball, but very little else. even if you're in a relegation side, a poor keeper will still make a considerable number of mistakes. yes there are very few good keepers in the PL now so there's been very little competition to be in the top 2 or 3 in the league, but you're doing him a disservice if you say he's only doing well because he has so much work to do.

caulker will have a release clause, he would be mad to come to us without one, if its met he's off, if not then we've got a decision to make, with someone like him, even on the wages, we are a better team, i'd keep him if the release clause isn't met.

It's a no brainer that caulker will move on, He needs premiership football to be considered for England in the future. I don't think anyone else is that good. someone might take marshal as a back up but that's all.
