Quite happy at the moment but aware it could all go Pete Tong with us finishing 6th and potless but after single handedly (well maybe Real helped) bringing about the end of an era at Barcelona I can't help but wonder if we actually need to win the CL to attract top talent.

On Tuesday with the whole world watching we remain (along with Inter who have now capitulated) the only team that has beaten Barca over two legs in the last 4 years. Those two performances alone marketed us across the world and opened the eyes of any aspiring top players. Under the circumstances it was the greatest performance by any team in the CL in the history of the competition.

Only Madrid of the 50s, Liverpool of the 70s and Milan of the late 80s/early 90s (Saachi) can be compared to this current Barca side in terms of club football, a truly remarkable achievement and the signing of Marin for £8m proves that. I still think we can attract top talent even if we don't make the CL, but here's hoping if we don't make it... it's only one year we are absent <ok>

You signed Marko Marin without a guarantee of CL football. Makes me wonder, if the impossible happened and you got relegated next season... you'd probably sign Marco Reus to help you back up too.

Even if we drop out one season we can easily get back in it next, that's why I'm hoping Newcastle get in.

With all due respect there is no guarantee you'd even get past the qualifiers and even if you did you wouldn't be able to juggle the demands of two games a week for almost the entire season, it would take its toll and affect your league form.

If Spurs get 4th I fear they will be able to build and help cement a place in the top 4 and it could be difficult for us to get back in especially if Arsenal start spending.

That said I still think we will get 4th.. undeservedly albeit.

Any outcome is better then Spurs top 4. To be honest, as long as we win one of the finals I'll be happy. Finishing out top 4 would be good in some respects as we couldn't go for ridiculously price tagged players and have them flop.

    Tomorrow is a massive chance.

Newcastle might draw but at 4-0 down I give them zero chance of winning, even if they commit men forward Wigan will pick them off on the break and score more.

If we win our next two games (both of which are at home) we'll be laughing. It's still in Spurs hands but they won't win all 4 of their last games, they'll be lucky to win 2 on this form.

Win our two games in hand and we go within 2 points of Arse as it stands.

Anyone seen the thread dedicated to Stoke on their board? Remarkable.

As long as Arsenal don't win I'll be happy. They look awful without Arteta in the side and if I struggle to see how they will pick up many points.

Arsenal fail to win today and if we win our next 2 I'll be confident of a 3rd place finish. Remarkable considering we didn't even look like a team that could get any higher than 5th a few weeks back.

Let's hope we don't let ourselves down tomorrow. It's amazing how confident a certain rancid gooner cretin is behaving over on their board!

The guy's a tool and it's no wonder Arsenal fans are renowned for being the worst in the country. I feel sorry for the proper Gooners.

I think that guy was Arsenal's version of daffy_matth, but where daffy was about the high amount of shit topics he could make, that guy was about the amount of bollocks he could fit in every post.

What's funny is they are so adamant that we won't win a thing this season yet have the cheek to call us arrogant?!? Unbelievable!

I found it hilarious that he said he'd rather be in their position than ours <laugh>

Only arseholes I've found are to be on forums and are usually under the age of 18 meaning the only football they know is the Invincibles which makes them think they invented football.

    Calm down pal.

And yes you do need top 4 because your luck will run out against bayern. Funny you mentioned inter in your OP. They can be compared to you because they are full of aging players on big contracts and refuse to give a manager the time to transition. Also they are upper mid table like you.

On the other hand you cant be compared to them. They battered barca first leg and then defended amazing with a harsh red card in the second leg. Also they did the treble that year and were undeniably the best side in world football. Whatever happens in munich you wont take that mantel. Thus any CL win will be cheapened. This wont be a year people will remember in terms of the CL. It never is unless someone wins it who also wins their own title. You may not like it but its true <ok>

Did I???????????????????????? I don't think I did. And NO, we don't need the top four because we'll take a year out and come back stronger. shouldn't your post have been posted in GREEN font? What a load of bollocks. Chelsea's tactics were spot on and because the scum had no idea how to beat them last season just proves nothing other than that Wenger has very limited tactical nous.
