Based off the last 2 games is this our best line up...... .....................McLaughlin.................. McLaughlin....Willis...Lynch...DeBock ............Mcgeouch...Power........... Maguire..........ONien.........Mcgeady ........................McNulty.................... I would say it is. ONien needs to play in that number 10 role now. Hes been amazing the last 2 games, and his energy and constant running is a big problem for opposition defenders. Lynch looks solid at the back and him and Willis bring a big physical presence to our back line.
I would agree with that team. Hopefully Mcnulty gets over this hamstring injury that's been niggling him and we can get a bit of consistency going.
Yes true. Its nice to know we have a decent back up keeper to come in. A spell on the bench could do McLaughlin some good. I hope Mcgeouch gets the nod over Leadbitter from now on. Hes by far a better player than him in that role.
Id say that's about it, hopefully when fit Ross finally decides his best 11 and sticks to it unless form is shocking or injury
To be fair such a short flippant comment doesn't really explain my thinking, but it was intended to be rather light hearted. At the moment I think that the Goalkeeper and 2 centre backs (at last) are now decided but that virtually every other position is up for grabs depending on the opposition, form etc. For what it's worth I like the look of your team but you just don't know how a player is going to perform week by week, it could be the best team for Saturday but in the next game... I suppose that is why they are playing at this level as they are just not consistent enough, but that is what the manger gets paid for after all he see's them in training. Hope that clears things up a bit
That looks about right to me. It's time we had a settled back four. McGeouch looks a better option than Leadbitter, as does Power over Dobson. Maguire and McGeady are our only creative players, so should definitely be in there. Saturdays goal demonstrated that O'Nein is a good option for the ball over the top, and McNulty runs the channels and works the opposition more, so would be my automatic first choice.
I think that's pretty close. The only one for me would be a debate over Maguire and Gooch depending on the opposition. Also, we'd have some decent options from the bench depending upon how games are going.
Good thing about that team , Players should be busting a gut in training to try and get in. Before is was just a rotation trying to find his best team
Yeah I'd say that's our best side. Thank **** that Lynch and De Bock both look like solid pros because apart from Ozturk everyone else in defence was either bang average or pretty poor and there was a lot of messing about while Ross tried to polish a turd. I know it seems too soon to judge the new lads but I trust my judgment on this one, they looked the real deal. Shame for Gooch to miss out but with the likes of him and Hume on the bench that's a lot of energy waiting to be unleashed on tired defences.
I very much doubt ross knows his ar5e from his elbow. His incessant need to keep tinkering is testimony to that. Especially the CB pairings. How many different permutations can you get from 7 different cb's ( at least )? The foundation of any successful team is at cb. He is a former centre back who bangs on about clean sheets. Irony central! Barnsley, luton and charlton did an awful lot more with an awful lot less playing resources. Luton lost their manager mid way through the season and were made up of div 2 players. Bowyer was a newbie manager at a skint club. Still people want to make excuses and gloss over that he is an incorrigible tinkerer who advocates horrible football . His tertiary qualification, cerebral outpourings, professional appearance seem to part of the reason he continues to collect get out of jail cards. Wins in meaningless cup comps against premiership stiffs only serve to delay the inevitable
McGeouch is a good player when we are on the front foot but really poor when we're under the cosh! I'd rather play Dobson in there personally. I don't rate McLaughling (RB) but we have nothing better - haven't seen De Bock or Lynch play yet as I missed the game on Saturday.
I'm not sure about McGeouch either, the game on Saturday was probably the best I've seen him play but it was a bit of a Wyke-esque performance in that there was a lot of effort but he was always just in the wrong position or just too late to get the ball. Still though I appreciate his effort and being slightly off the pace is understandable, he's not played loads. I thought his reading of the game was good so he might be canny when he's a bit sharper off the mark. I'd stick with a winning side and keep it the same for Lincoln. Might even leave McGeady on the bench and put some faith in Gooch.
Agreed. I like McGeouch but worry about his speed/stamina. Luckily we have Leadbitter and Dobson to slot in there. Time to stop chopping and changing and stick with the same team, where possible.
I really think, Brian, that he'll now know his best defence . . . . that which started on sarrada, so tinkering will become minimal (injuries etc.) I believe that we are not far away from a settled team now
