Lads, I don't think the blame is all on Sparky. Some of the lad have not given 100% this year, who should we get rid of and who shall we get in?
We have a top half team, the only one who isnt good enough is the one who starts virtually every game. Zamora and Cisse the ones whos havent always given 100% and thats 100% down to Hughes who sold BZs only rival for the spot (HH) and bought in a player whos injury prone (AJ) to rival Cisse.
We should get rid of Hughes. Ideally we should have a replacement for him, but we'd probably do better without any Manager than with him. Before we get rid of any player, we need to find a good replacement for them. Of the Players who feature regularly now, only Park hardly requires replacement - we have good strength otherwise in midfield.
It gets very dull if you turn every thread into anti Hughes. To answer the OP. The players are good enough, need some obvious strengthening like a quality centre back. Just got to come good and that starts Sunday. We'll be we'll set by Xmas.
Whether this is a WUM thread or not, I do think we need to add in January. Not another six or eight players, that would be madness. Just one young, fit and not injury prone CB and one young, fit, not injury prone striker who can actually score at a rate of at least one goal per game. Is that too much to ask?!
Need solid full backs and a rock-like CB plus a goal-scoring striker. Then anyone could capably manage a squad like ours - even Mark Hughes.
I'm not so sure about your last sentance Brixton. The way he has persisted with Park and SWP in wide attacking positions, played Clint at left back, left Ale on the bench again at Arsenal in a game surely crying out for his passing tidyness, and his failure to respond to situations that develop during a game, make me doubt even that. Way his and our luck is at the moment these new players wil get injured or sent off anyway - perhaps what we need most is a lucky positive, agressive Manager.
I think he gives 100% and also has played OK so far. He certainly plugs that side and is always available when we have the ball I can see fully why Hughes plays him and I can of course see why fans mock him ... His game has changed from we think he should be doing . He has been instrumental is us playing better with the ball IMO
Fair enough Oz - but any inkling of who that lucky positive, aggressive manager could be... cos I don't? Moyes could be one such but doubt we'd ever get him.
