On Saturday afternoon Osca and I will be departing sunny Coxhoe for a week in a cottage, on a farm, on the coast. We will have one mobile between us for emergency use only, no land line and no internet, just a bowl of water, some good food and a long lead for lots of walks, our get away from it all week. We shall return on the Friday evening, with that extra point from our Bolton draw, ready to see our beloved Sunderland do battle with Wolves in our last home game of the season. I fully expect EPL survival to be assured by then and a team that includes some of our reserve hopes, I also expect a full house, good atmosphere and good performance leading to a very good win. However, I also expected to be in the top 8 by now, expected to be seeing Gyan and Welbeck banging in the goals, expected to be orgasmic watching the skill and quality of Muntari, expected to be talking about that next level of summer signing to challenge for a top 6 finish next season, expectation is a wonderful thing. Looking forward to our week in the cottage, I expect we will enjoy it, what was that!!!!!
think you need the break mate, your definetly losing grips on reality, all them long walks will do you good, a nice roll in the hay with your loving pet is what you deserve, then when you return all refreshed, you'll still see bruce out, by the posy, and wish you hadn't bothered.. enjoy it mate, and keep away from tv on sat, don't spoil your hols...
reckon the ****er had swallowed a little blue pill, best keep your medicine cabinet locked syd, cos if osca gets a hold of your stash, your in for a ruff ride.....
The only thing that I expect is that the players earn their corn by putting in some effort!!!!!!!!!!!! Enjoy the coast and the walks Syd. I'm sure we'll all miss your daily buletins and occasional ramblings.
Yes, it's going to be a hard week so the lads had better do something on Saturday to make it bearable.
The answer to the original question< Do We Expect to much?? is yes. Up to the Chelsea away game we were ticking over nicely. Hard to score against, picking up points against the big boys and looking a very tidy team, we could all see improvement we had made from previous season. But the win against Chelsea was the worst thing to happen to us (sounds daft as it was by far our best performance ) Everthing went our way and we all know it could easyly have been 4,5 or even 6. But with this win our expectations went so high there was no way we could keep that standard up. A very young and as it turned out a thin squad crippled with injuries was always going to hit a bad patch. I admit that the "bad patch" has lasted longer than everyone thought but we will be a stronger and better team because of this. Mr Quinn and Bruce will strengthen the squad in the summer the youngsters will have matured mentally and physically, we will not repeat the mistakes of last season (meaning having a full strength squad ) I am going to keep on banging the positive drum throughout the summer and I am already looking forward to next season.
It depends on your expectations at the begginning of the season i was happy to finish 10th and pushing for 7th next year. I expected the team to be gelling with gyan and bent banging them in for fun Henderson getting better and better and a settled defence for once with Bramble and Mensah being the heart of it. Then all we needed the summer was a couple to strengthen the squad. Oh i forgot ive been a Sunderland supporter for 45 years and it does not work like that lol. Injuries crippled us and Mensah needs to go and all the loan players. Bent left for a club at the time struggling at the bottom and player unrest (still can't understand that one) and a lot leaving in the summer. If he was unsettled in the summer why was there not a short list of replacements lined up (not bloody Fuller) We need to start again and buy players wanting to play and are not afraid of a scrap. We need Short to inject some cash and Bruce Quinn and Short sit down and look at what went wrong and formulate a squad so this does not happen again. We took 4 points out of 18 from the promoted clubs We did not compete in the cups or the Derby games (look where it got Stoke and Birmingham) HOWEVER i will be there again next season shouting on my team whoever is there and that includes Bruces red and white army (unless its O'neil of course) Not long now and everyone can stop taking the blood pressure tablets untill August at least
