As bad as some of Pardew's choices have been the players need to have a long hard look at themselves.

These are people fortunate enough to make a living from something that many others would love to do.
I'm a fireman, I had to beat 3000 other applicants for my job and I know just talking to people how many had wanted to become a firefighter. I know I'm lucky to do my job and though there may be a lot of dicking about and down time, as soon as we go out the doors we are all professional and give our all as that's what's expected of us and we all know how lucky we are to be doing what we dreamt of..... we don't need our manager motivating us to do the job we all wanted to do.
I imagine that feeling is amplified many times over knowing your making a living playing football, a living from something millions, not just thousands of people, wished they could do.

The team need some bloody pride in themselves that's for sure. All this "there's nothing left to play for" is nonsense, Southampton are still going for it.
Honestly, I think I'd rather the team finished 17 every season, in fact I'd follow them regardless of what league we were in if the 11 players on the pitch gave their all and showed they cared because at the moment they are an embarrassment. I'd only be disappointed to see a few players go, the rest can move on to be honest!

I'm not even asking for a team of 11 local lads or English lads (though it would be nice) or even for the players to feign love for the club but at least love the game and the fact you're fortunate enough to be making a living from it, go out there and give everything!
I can tolerate players not being the best as long as they apply themselves, no excuses!

 

Here here well said I agree with every word was at the match today, have a season ticket and that's what I expect from the lads at the very least is to give there all and try there hardest, I don't necessarily mind the result as long as I can look at those players and say they gave there all but I'm afraid I can't because they simply don't and its not good enough and I have simply had enough of it I can't take any more of it and it sickens me. Sorry about the lack of punctuation and grammar but I can't even be bothered to do that!

 

It's a total disgrace and all the players and management should hang their collective heads in shame.

All joking aside, that is a real worry.

 

You put a cabaye back in this side we would instantly start creating, scoring again. There's no link between mid and attack, no hold up play, and the ball just comes straight back at us, it was always going to be like this without cabaye, we needed back up cover for him not selling cmpletely..this was always obvious. I blame pardew for not being able to set us up any other way but he obviously can only work with what he's given..and ideas such as replacing cabs with anita or ben arfa (lol) were ridiculous.

We sold our best player and are paying the obvious price. The team obviously know what a slap in the face that was, I'm sure they don't want to be out there getting smashed every week and more than lack of pride I see resignation and frustration. I'm looking to before christmas as a better indication of where we stand with this team...and possibly manager.

Its just a shame for us fans, although given some toon fans penchant for whining constantly about..everything..I think some people are probably getting some perverse enjoyment from it all. maybe fat controller thinks he's doing some people a favour. It is hard not to imagine him sat in a mr burns- esque office, surrounded by pictures of money, stuffing green pies in his mouth and saying 'moaning? Ill give you something to moan about" as he presses a button and cabaye is sucked through a concealed vaccumed tube and replaced with a big pile of fckin mint flavoured 'wonga' that he can lick

No, they don't give a rats ass. Otherwise regardless of manager or sale of the best player, they'd be able to grind out a couple of results. We not only need a creator in the summer, we need some backbone and stronger characters in the dressing room for the next time the owner pulls the rug. Whereas we can do better than Pards, a different manager wouldn't necessarily seen a different set of results. As we've seen with Sunderland and Poyet, if players don't care or have the right mentality, then any good work done can be lost.
