Do they not sell proven goal scorers and good old fashion English strikers at Harrods

We had Kenwyne and Bent but Mr Bruce chose to sell them, now we are scratching for replacements which we all know is difficult because every team in the premiership is looking for the same two types of player.
In my opinion we miss Kenwyne more than Judas because of his presence, I appreciate he appeared lazy at times, but anyone who has watched him must see the graft he put in, he was our best defender of set pieces. A target man would bring out the best of not only Gyan and Sess, but midfield players arriving in the box late.

Both good players, both gone, both sorely missed.

Replacement? anyone's guess, if there is to be one.

Come on Bent totally agree with but Jones was not a goal scorer and he made you pull your hair out. We need a top striker, always have since Bent left but Jones was not the answer. Sturridge at Chelsea would be perfect but i dont think we have a chance of getting him.

If Bruce wanted to sell Jones, fair enough. But why do we keep on hoofing the ball up like Jones still plays for us? It is soooooooooooooooooooo annoying!!!!

    .

Maybe not, but if the club were true to their word, and maybe break our transfer record, maybe half a chance...

But after Bruce said "i think were done for now" don't hold your breath.

I didnt think we did really until the second half when we got a big desperate. I thought we played quite well first half and start of the second half. I think if we had someone like Defoe playing up front with Sess yesterday it would have working well. Gyan was dissapointing yesterday.

Jones would indeed bring the best out of gyan and sess. The difference between Bent and Jones is that Bent wanted to eave, Jones and his whole family were gutted about leaving.

    .........Larssen...Catts....colback

    .......sess.....................gyan......
    .....................Jones...........

I think this would score goals and would have beaten the barcodes yesterday.

What does make me pull my hair out (if I had any) is people expecting players like Jones to be prolific. He leads the line and brings others into the game; he is more of a battering ram which creates space for his partner. Bent struggled without him when he went to Stoke, just the same as Phillips struggled without Quinn.

Jones is a different player to Bent but those types of player complement each other in a 4-4-2. Jones got his share of goals (26 in 94 games) in a struggling team, which I would suggest is on a par with the likes of Heskey, Crouch and Quinn.

Big centre forwards are not as effective in 4-3-3 or 4-5-1 formations (although Jones could make the ball stick and bring runners into the game, but a big centre forward along with Gyan and Sess would make us an effective unit going forward.

Well the owner of Harrods has Fulham, and they have one Bobby Zamora who fits the bill in terms of leading the line

Bent was desperate to leave. What more could Bruce do? He'd already talked him round once about leaving. And got assurances that Judas was happy to stay.
I'm pleased the club didn't let the little weasel hold us to ransom again. If they had the whole dressing room would have been banging on the door asking for more dosh or else.

Getting back to Jones, he may have been lazy but he was a target man and can score goals, why is Richardson playing in defence, and Sessegnon up front? John 0' shea can play there and why was Whickham signed to sit on the bench?. We need this sorting soon and Martin o neil needs bringing in because i bet we do not win untill after 10 games. The league cup now and the f a cup is more important than ever and i hope that geordie realises that. It is a wonder he never went and celebrated with the mags at the end of the match, and the sooner Quinn gets all visiting supporters shifted into the concourse the better because the defenders cannot cope with them behined them.

Well said MrRAWhite, B£nt was sold by the board after he made it clear he wanted more money - Bruce had little option.

How long was the gap between SirKP leaving and B£nt coming - then prepare yourselves for a similar wait to find such a prolific scorer - they alter rare and much sought after with a growing band of suitors.

Its not that Bent or Jones was sold its the abject way they were allowed to go WITHOUT any thought as to what that would do to the team, morale and results. No planning seemed to be done with either sale IMO and it seems to be a case of sell them then panic.

Players move on from every club but most clubs are savvy enough to have earmarked and brought in replacements BEFORE the **** hits the fans (literally in our case after yesterdays humiliation AGAIN).

Bruce doenst think the game through enough and if the board sold Bent from under the manager then he is feckless and weak and should go for that reason if nothing else. Had Bent gone and a replacement brought in then fine. If no replacement then the player should have been told he couldn't leave until the summer when would be found.

Bruce instigated the move after his daughter became involved with the player. It was Bruce led and thats always being overlooked here. Daddy wasnt happy with princesses choice of suitor and the said problem was removed and thats why it was rushed and no replacement considered. End of. Why were so happy to just accept installments for Bent when he was on a long contract and we should have demanded cash up front. We accepted the instalments because fat Geordie bastard wanted rid of the player and now we have been in the ****e ever since.

No He didn't Mr RAWhite, however an awful lot went on behind the scenes that we were not privy to, Bents relationship with Gyan and Bents relationship as reported in the papers with a certain lady all contributed to him leaving.

I am delighted that we did not allow him to hold us to ransom but his goals will be difficult to replace. I do think that a quality target man like Jones would bring the best out of Gyan and Sessegnon.

Well Jones has just scored for Stoke in the 93rd min.

Quiet game, one chance one goal, great header.

u beat me to it comm. we need a big man and there aren't many better out there in europe than kenwyne. although I don't rate ameobi newcastles whole game plan revolved around him. I'm no fan of the long ball but my point is that you need a target man in your squad. There's a few out there who albeit aren't world beaters but are better than wickham and ji currently are. There's three at west ham alone.

Crouch- more money (wages + Spurs extortionate valuations) than he would be worth.

Fellaini- midfielder, wouldn't get away with the amount of elbows playing for us.

Defoe- see Crouch, however COULD do a better job, although not if last season was anything to go off.

Bellamy- Could work on the left flank as well as upfront, best suggestion.

Wright-Philips- Shaun? Wages, right sided midfielder, tiny, no thanks.

All the players are getting on a bit and there is a question of whether they would actually be willing to come.
