The owners are desperate for it, the fans are and even though I,m not a fan of his, the manager does too.
BUT. Do the players really want it?
Seems to me that they are very happy where they are.
A few of them are not good enough for the level we are playing at now and the majority of them would be looking for new clubs if promotion was achieved. So the current scenario whereby they are picking up nice bigger than average championship wages suits them very nicely thank you.
In life if things aren't changed, they stay the same.
Massive summer clear out required, including the manager.

Ive highlighted this before, alan young says that players don't go out in that frame of mind, but Im not sure..subconsciously they must know there would be a major cull if we went up.. it don't need much of a drop in focus to lose in this league, its fine margins..after all they are only human beings.. we all look out for our own interests at the end of the day.. I believe there is something in it..<ok>

Of course they do. I don't believe for one second that they don't try as heard because they fear they might get sold if we did go up.

Choice: 1) Play well, help the team get promoted, win a trophy and the honour of helping your team to success. Either get given a crack at the PL, or sold to another Championship team looking to get promoted.

    2) Play very average so we don't go up, get replaced here by someone who does want it, and thus sold to an average Championship team at best.

Plus I'm sure they'll have promotion-based wage increases, if you are looking at it from the perspective that they'll do whatever is best for them.

Whatever is best for them is promotion to the PL.

    Ridiculous question.

problem is a lot of our players are already on premier wages, to me recent form suggets some are not busting a gut.. as for the "honour" ..thats laughable, been a long time since players did it for that reason..now that is ridiculous..,<ok>

riddle me this.. how many of our squad who have been dropped and were first team players have put a transfer request in when they can't get back in the first team? Mmmmmmm

I think this is a very fair point - and I would add that Nigel is probably very happy with the current situation - happy with his pay packet in this league - he'll be better off financially if he gets sacked - he'd get paid off a fortune, then sign up with some other owner willing to pay him a hatful of cash - money for jam

    <laugh> You absolute joker.

NP not wanting to get promoted, because he wants to get the money for being sacked is almost the most ridiculous thing I have read on this forum <doh>

Some players want it, some arent bothered

The way Harry Kane has looked is he couldnt give a **** either way. He missed a great chance to put us 1-0 up with a free header, he missed that one on one at Ipswich aswell. I think we would be better off with Waghorn then Kane.

Look how much the last min equaliser meant to Kasper in the week, no one can question his commitment to the cause

You know, it's crap like this thread which has caused me to stay away for a few days. I can handle childish Hull fans taking the piss, but when our own fans start talking like this...

I think it's just Football... **** happens to every team , luck , form , bad runs win games you think you will lose , lose games you think you will win..

Seems to happen in the championship more then any other league .

Your players , the manager and the fans will want to win I'm sure just as ours do.....

Just doesn't always happen and often it's down to luck or a **** ref..

It's all about opinions isn't it... Maybe NP knows he's not up to it - he seems to get teams so far and then flattens out (no pun intended)

A win tommorow and everything will be rosy again. Nigel Pearson will be the best thing since sliced bread. Its just the nature of football.

I have said many times im 100% behind Nigel Pearson and how he runs a club. He gets the right players in for the right price. And gets us results. Other then Nigel Pearson the last manager to get us higher then 10th place was Micky Adams. Thats say everything you need to know. People are complaining we are 5th!

I agree. We have been lucky with other results that have kept us in contention. Tomorrow's game is huge. Win and we're back in the automatic race. Draw and it'll be a good point but I think automatic will be out. Lose and we're be looking over our shoulder.

We may be out of form and getting some poor results BUT we are still in with a shout which is more than you can say about previous seasons. People need to remember this - it's not over yet.

The great thing about Football is anything can happen and anyone in the top 6 can grab promotion.... Or finish 7th.

Enjoy the season win draw or lose and make your minds up at the end of the season as to wether it was a good season or not.

To soon to judge managers and players with lots of games to go though some do even after one **** game..

Me laughing if you lose is not on in my world BECAUSE my team might **** up and then it makes me look stupid .

I hope you beat Cardiff ... I hope Cardiff lose every game ... That way we MIGHT win the league..

    Just maybe ...

If your telling me the players put 100% in against burton and huddersfield in the cup then I was watching different games to you, if that is not on the scale of not trying to win, I don't know what is.. beckford has NEVER put 100% in... I have lost count of how many times our players have pulled out of 50 /50 challenges this season.. ,<ok> Im not romantic about the modern footballer even if others are..,<ok>

Thats not an answer to my question, why is it none of our players when dropped ever ask for a transfer to get first team football elsewhere? they know when they are better off, there were rumblings when st ledger was out of the team but he is still here isn't he? things are a bit too comfortable down at city..<ok>

Sorry IUTBJF, I don't think I understand what you mean?

Do you want our players to ask for a transfer every time they don't make the first team?

I expect ambitious players who want to play to be very eager to play first team football, quite a few of ours have been given the chance to do so, but like mr.pearson as observed , they haven't taken it. they love it down at the city... I would have more respect for some of them if they did demand to leave to prove what they can do.. but no.. they just never want to leave..I wonder why?
