Alex Crook - Sky's South Coast Reporter: If Adkins does leave #saintsfc dont be surprised to see Les Reed replace him What do we think of that? Surely Les wouldn't have the audacity to come downstairs and into the managing of the first team like he did at Charlton? Would be an absolute disaster.
I'd be surprised...and appalled. How Cortese could possibly be convinced of Reed's managerial prowess, I fail to understand. You can't really even say he's been a manager already, that spell at Charlton can't count!
Already commented on this, and as I say, I could absolutely see this happening - IF Adkins were no longer our manager. And it's not just because Alex has tweeted it. It's something which I've been thinking about for a while. Just sort of fits. Not saying I'd agree with it though. It's all well and good people on here giving their own names, but ultimately it's completely pointless. It's, quite obviously, who Cortese would pick.
I guess I wouldn't be surprised to see him take over temporarily whilst a replacement is found, but as a permanent solution...nuts...just nuts.
And yet Harry is mentioned left, right and centre, and is something which many people could see happening? I'm pretty certain they'd be a fair bit of uproar if that happened to.
Sky Sports sources said Paul Hart was offered the job after Pardew was sacked. Sky aren't always as reliable as people think.
Les Reed clarifies his role at Saints: http://www.2ndyellow.com/2012/five-minutes-of-your-time-please-les-reed/ May be of interest to anyone unsure as to what he actually does, he says here himself!!!
If Les became manager I would boo him. I would walk up to him and boo right in his face. We'd be relegated faster than you can say parachute payments.
If Reed seriously wanted the job Adkins would be gone. Just like Hodgson/Dalglish at Liverpool. Can't see it really.
Quote from that article : "Being a manager would be a piece of cake after this!" - Really Les? Do you actually believe this?
Dalglish did no better and nor is Rodgers (yet), but I don't think Hodgson ever had a chance with King Kenny after his job from day one. Adkins has (had) the board's backing in a way Hodgson never did.
