    West Bromwich Albion

McInnes joined West Bromwich Albion in the summer of 2000, but a cruciate ligament injury ended his season in October. He returned the following season to captain Albion to a place in the Premier League. He also won Albion's Goal of the Season award at the end of the promotion campaign, for his 25-yard strike against Sheffield United in the Battle of Bramall Lane.[5]

    Dundee Utd

McInnes joined Dundee United on 11 July 2003, and was immediately installed as team captain by manager Ian McCall. In his first full season at Tannadice, McInnes missed only three league and one cup game. He helped the club to a fifth-place finish in the Scottish Premier League and scored twice

    Millwall

In June 2006, McInnes joined Millwall. The then-Lions boss Nigel Spackman gave McInnes the captain's armband with the comment: "Every Millwall player on that pitch should be a Derek McInnes."

Plus this on our board today from a St Johnstone fan...

"McInnes is a great motivator, a great man manager (nothing but positive words coming out from players, Sandaza going out of his way to praise him), a very good tactician capable of changing things when things get tough. Furthermore he is exceptionally good at identifying weaknesses in a team, moving swiftly in the transfer market and strenghening a squad with a minimum of fuss."

That will do me, stop the search now...

He sounds just like the kind of personality you have been looking for prem with all the attributes you have advocated. A never say die kind of bloke who knows how to motivate players to play at their peak and get the job done. If indeed all these accolades are genuine we should install him immediately, don't you think?

Forget all the big names and egos let just hire a "can do" person. Perhaps you should be on the interview commitee prem because it seems that you can recognise the right candidate by their attitude!

We'll just have to wait and see won't we? Perhaps the tide is turning.

Yep, this is the guy for me, he was my front runner a couple of days ago, and now I really really want him if we can get him. Dave Jones as a backup, but I still think we will end up with SOD, which is a sort of sideways move, but not going to write him off without giving him my full support. But DM is the man we should be pulling all the stops out for!

The odds on him are dropping back now, he is at 5 but bizarrely Zola's are now 4's
The more I read on Mcinnes I like as well, but also like the idea of Dave Jones!

It's a great read, but have to say still not 100% convinced.
It would still be a massive gamble taking on someone with his experience in English football, when we are rock bottom of the championship.
I'm up for a gamble now and again but it's taken us a long time to get back in the 2nd tier of English football, we need to make sure, or do everything possible to make sure we stay there.
Had it been the case, we were above mid-table doing well and the manager walked out, I might have different thoughts.

Yes, anyone we take on is a gamble, but if I needed a major operation to keep me alive I would prefer a qualified surgeon rather than an up and coming student!!

Having said that, if the board decides he's the right man for the job and not just a cheap opition, I will back him all the way. (unless we are still in relegation zone by Christmas)!
