Back in the 70's my brother in law & I decided we would try and do all the 96 league grounds. My team was United, whilst the B-I-L was Liverpool (I know, but you can't pick you relations). We both lived close to Chester, so Chester & Wrexham were local "lower division" sides, so these were the sides we watched play away for the lower leagues. I can't find anything to date the game, but Wrexham drew Spurs away in the Milk cup. The game at white hart lane was a 3 all draw, but what made it amazing was that whichever side scored first, the second team equalised. then that team went in front etc etc . Where we sat was no problem, in fact we had a chat with some spurs fans and went for a pint with them afterwards The replay at Wrexham followed on where the same sequence of scoring carried on, with Spurs winning it 3-2. If I remember correctly, a lad called Jones from the Channel Islands played for Spurs, and scored two of your goals, but the man of the match was Ricky Villa, he was amazing. We met the Spurs lads before the game and had a couple of pints with them soon after, the BIL changed jobs, working most Saturdays, so the 92 club idea was dead in the water Finally, a few years later, Wrexham had finished bottom of the 4th division, and only avoided relegation through a technicality. Arsenal were Champions, and they drew each other in the FA Cup. A friend of mine had a spare ticket, but I turned him down, as I did not want to see Arsenal thrash Wrexham. Wrexham won 2-1,with Mickey Thomas scoring in the last minute of the game, which no doubt you guys will remember well But do any of you recall the 2 Spurs v Wrexham games
Don't remember the game, but do remember Chris Jones (and he scored all 3 goals in the replay). He was a very skilful striker that rarely scored - something we have specialised in over the years
It was a long time ago Spursdisciple, I can't remember if Ardiles played, have a feeling he was injured. But in the replay Villa was magificent. Head and shoulders above everyone else.
