To the south of Avignon in the Provence region of France, the beautiful city of Arles rests on the banks of the Rhône. Nestling between the arid limestone peaks of the Alpilles and the vast open plains of the Camargue, Arles proudly boasts an impressive range of ancient Roman monuments which are protected by their UNESCO World Heritage Sites status, the highlight being a magnificent example of a Roman amphitheatre. The strong sunlight in this breathtaking area inspired Vincent Van Gogh to create over 300 paintings and drawings during his brief spell living there towards the end of the nineteenth century. Almost a hundred years after Van Gogh moved to the city, on 12th August 1981, Arles welcomed the arrival of another instinctive genius, Djibril Aruun Cissé, a man whose passion for football, talent for courting controversy and wildly turbulent career indisputably declare that he was born to play for Q.P.R. http://rollercoasterranger.wordpress.com/2012/07/30/djibril-cisse-born-to-play-for-q-p-r/
not many people know this but Van Gogh used to live in Chiswick and he used to drink in the Tabard.. being an artist meself i saw him in there and went up to ask for his autograph.. i said 'can i buy you a pint Vincent?' and he said 'no thanks i've got one ear'..
Bloody good article Roller. I recon anyone who only read the paragraph you posted should click on the link - a fine history of a fine QPR nit-job
Excellent article Rollercoaster. Crazy individual finds crazy club and they lived happily ever after (hopefully!)
Roller, bit confused by this one, not sure this lad has been with us long enough yet. But you have made me aware of a few things which, I'm afraid, do not endear Cisse to me. Police cautions for hitting a boy and assaulting his pregnant wife? Suspected of assaulting another woman as well? If this was Mr J Barton Esq I doubt you would have let these things pass without serious comment.
'fraid I haven't had time to get round to serious reading lately. Flicked through and looks like another mammoth effort though Roller.
That's a fair criticism of your article Roller. You would no doubt be indignant of Barton in those circumstances. Sounds to me like we might have another thug on our hands.
