DJ INJURY UPDATE Posted on: Wed 19 Oct 2011 Head Physio Nigel Cox has confirmed DJ Campbell is likely to be out for 'six-to-eight weeks' after suffering a metatarsal fracture in training. The striker sustained the injury last week and Cox confirmed to www.qpr.co.uk: "We have found a stress fracture in the fifth metatarsal of his left foot. "The fracture doesn't actually go all the way through the bone, so it isn't a fracture in the truest sense of the word, it is more of a crack. "The consultant we have spoken to has advised us that the best way to deal with this is to put a pin through it. "He will have surgery on Thursday and will then be placed in an aircast boot for three weeks, which will immobilise the foot. "The benefit of that is it means there can be some partial weight-bearing, so DJ can put weight on the foot from day one. "Once he is out of the boot, and provided he is pain-free, we will push on the rehabilitation from there. "But, as the Manager said, for an injury of this nature you are looking at a timescale of six-to-eight weeks before the player can resume full training." iReader
Gutted for DJ, he so wanted to do well for his own club. Cannot understand why NW never used him as much as i thought he would. What did he get last season, 12-15 goals in a Blackpool team? He is proven at this level and in my opinion i think he should have had more starts. The system did not work too well with one up front. Gutted for him and a big miss for us.
He's been sick with the mystery virus from almost day one and now this - 6-8 weeks sounds optimistic to me. A new Dyer in the making?
I too wonder why NW didn't use DJ more, although he was out with that virus for a while, so he may not have been fully fit for a lot of the time. Having said that, I still think that NW had a bit of a blind spot where DJ was concerned, a bit like his blind spot concerning Hall, except the other way round ( If you get me? ).
