If the guy has played for Yeading (I have been there) then there is no excuse at all for him not wanting to move to the north east (an age old stumbling block). I've been saying this for a while: we need to jazz up our induction routine - far too many players aren't interested in joining us (the likes of Nugent and Baird from a few years back really stick in the throat as they joined much lesser clubs than ours). We need to improve the big sell, or if that doesnt work then start offering more in wages. I remember a few years back when Bolton were getting very big name players into their squad - if they can do it then why can't we? we have a bigger fanbase.

Wolves are battling Sunderland for Blackpool midfielder David Vaughan.

The Express & Star says sources close to the Wales international have confirmed Wolves have now joined the race for the 28-year-old, who was one of Blackpool's stars of their entertaining but ultimately doomed Premier League campaign.

But they will face stiff competition for the 5ft 5ins playmaker with West Bromwich Albion, Sunderland and QPR all vying for his signature.

The left-footed schemer is currently on holiday and will take his time over a decision with the race hotting up for his signature after an impressive season in the Premier League, when he was named as Blackpool's Player of the Year.

Vaughny stated he wanted to be close to Wales and familly, sort of puts us out of the running,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,till we talk about dosh, then I suppose Wales will take a back seat.

I wonder if Chelsea are after him? they seem to after about every player in europe at the minute, but D J would be great back up, and if we sign Whickam will he be 2nd choice striker ?(behind Gyan), but we do need 4 strikers
