Still trying to get my head around this rumour/link we have to signing him. 13 goals last season is pretty impressive, managing goals against Spurs, Liverpool and Man utd during that time. He was born in Hammersmith so is a local lad. Available for 1.25 million. Cannot help but feel that he would be useful signing for us, just wish he was a bit younger.

not for me bombed at Brum. He scored goals because Blackpool played attacking football all the time. I'm not sure he'd get 13 at our gaff.

1.25 million isn't much nowadays, although I think they'd want a bit more than that. Worth a punt I'd say. Our big money striking investments havent really done much for us in the past. Could be a shrewd bit of business.

I agree that he bombed at Birmingham, but his form at Blackpool has made me re-evaluate that as him finding his feet in the Premier League. Don't forget he was a January signing in their relegation season, so he only got half a season to adapt. Jermain Beckford took as long to start doing well at Everton and now doesn't look out of place.

I'm not saying DJ is the answer to our prayers, merely that his failure at Birmingham shouldn't be weighed too strongly against his good form for Blackpool. He's certainly shown that he knows how to score in the Premier League, and with a guarenteed price of £1.25mil, he wouldn't be a bad bit of business. I'm undecided on this one - it isn't one to raise the heartrate, but he could be a useful squad player who wouldn't break the bank on either fee or wages. I guess it all depends on how much confidence Jol and the coaches have on our crop of young strikers breaking through, and who else they've got in the pipeline.

I'm with the Captain on this. If we could get him for £1.25m that sounds good value bearing in mind we are definitely losing Kamara and EJ. Also, I like the Hammersmith angle - always nice having local players.

I agree Captain, it seems a good bit of business. At Birmingham he scored 9 goals in 43 appearances, but that was 4/5 years ago. Players invariably respond to poor runs of form and 13 goals in the premiership is not easy irrespective of who you are playing for. Let's not forget Rooney and Drogba only got 11 goals this term. I would rather see Campbell in instead of AJ. A strike force of Zamora, Campbell, El Hamdaoui and Hoeson could be interesting. Add to that Gera and Dempsey as back up, there are goals a plenty there.

I think he will stay at Blackpool, he is good friends with Holloway. However money talks he may be tempted.

I'm not keen either. There are better options out there.

Seems like a low-risk signing at £1.25m. If he signs and does well it's a bargain, if he's a flop then even at 29/30 you'd probably still recoup that by selling him again in a years time. Hardly a ringing endorsement, but you won't find that many strikers who hit double figures last season for that kind of money.

I agree that he would be low risk at £1.25m but also agree that there are better options out there. He did well at Blackpool but was that simply because of their style. At Birmingham, who have a markedly different style he was not so effective. Not sure if his style would suit ours.

Fulhaman, says it all about B'ham. For them (I think in 2008) he got 9 in 43 appearances. He's had 3 spells at B'pool since 2009, Chalking up 30 in 66 games. Virtually all at home but still pretty reasonable.

Mind you, although not as bad as fatty Fletcher-whatsit, he missed some sitters last seasom. And if I recall correctly, in some vital games.

I'd only take him if he were to be our 4th choice behind Zamora, AJ and Dembele or possibly replace Dembele with a new striker and have Dembele on the wing. He could be useful for the Europa games.
