Since the demise of 606, and the building up of NOT 606, [and we are expanding] I have noticed more and more digs at the mods, one of which happened within the last 24 hours, Although this site is open, and swearing allowed, not everyone likes it, I also did not read this thread, but if a mod has mulled it over, and decieded to delete, then fine with me, because I have sailed close to the edge on more than one occasion, but with the help of the mods, latest from Dorset, saved my bacon as it were, nobodys perfect, and not all are sober, and we all have differing viewpoints. But the mods are a necessity, otherwise the site would be closed down, or taken over by some extreme organisation, of which we have a few in this country of ours, I dont have a better solution, so for me, long may the mods rule. SUMMERY. As far as I can see, the mods on our site are fine, but if you did have a problem with them, they are only to happy to discuss, maybe a cooling off period on behalf of the complainant might help, then ask the questions if you feel the question is still relevant, BUT worth remembering, they are Sunderlland supporters, before mods.
I think that's what some people forget, they aren't faceless like those on 606, they have their own views, have a few daft moments when feelings are running high but are all good lads, they help out to make this forum a great place for all of us. Thanks guys always appreciated.
Nah we're all ****ers and not allowed opinions. (according to some). The main thing people forget is we came to this site as safc fans, and that is what matters. No matter what ever happens, that will never change.
If you are referring to my article I don't see how asking why a thread was removed is "having a dig". The role of mods on these boards is for me just to keep threads from becoming outright personal slagging matches. I've seen posts removed simply because a mod didn't agree. Which quite frankly is not what they should be doing You say mods are fans first! Then you agree mods are very biased. To be a truly fair moderator, surly you would have to be as unbiased as possible. And before anyone starts with "stop having a dig at mods". I'm not. We have some very good ones who seem to give up their life's for this site. Not something I would be prepared to do. It's just my opinion.
So do you suggest having non safc supporters as the mods on this site? Maybe we should swap with badger and co, over on the mags board, or maybe gillingham, as i'm sure we couldn't have anything to say there. And as you ask, i wasn't referring to your article, as i can't even remember it..
I hope we have never closed or deleted a thread just because we did not agree with it, may have but I hope not. We close and delete very little on this board, BDU gets deleted because he was banned after a lot of disscusion, I still try and talk him round but never can. I think a lot of the debate of late has been about me and I accept that. I also accept that I lost it th other night but I was annoyed over being called a liar and called it more than once, not an excuse just an explination. I also accept that because of a bad week I was stressed and maybe not that rational and I have backed off over the last few days to calm down. I am, like all the mods on all the boards, a football fan first and I try hard to get on with all the clubs, including Newcastle and I try to be as unbiased as possible. All forums have to have mods and a simple choice was made early on to select mods fom the board they moderate. I can see why people think the mods are only here to stop thread becoming slangging matches but that does them an injustice, many do a lot more than that and like Bill point out many unseen PM's pass either way giving help and advice, not blowing my own trumpet there but the trumpets of Commo, BB and Dorset on the Sunderland board. Thanks for the kind words Bill and Cyprusmackem we go way back to old 606 days and you know that your opinion is always welcomed and valued.
Sorry commachio. Bit of confusion there as I was asking Bill. On BBC606 We could all have a go at the mod's because they were faceless pricks. But we knew we needed them. Bit like the Police in the real World. On here SOME mods are fans while you agree with them and Mods when you don't. You will disagree I have no doubt, but that's my opinion.
No probs mate, even the mods don't agree with each other on some things, whereas myself and syd are pro bruce, certain others are not. There ain't a lot that gets deleted, just sometimes things run their course and then turn into a slanging match, which tends to put some people off, maybe even driving them away, and that's the last thing we want. We want more members, and difference of opinions is healthy, after all we're all experts in our own mind.
dont think its a question of agreeing or disagreeing its your view so it counts. I honestly dont think Commo, BB or Dorset would fit into that group and hope I dont but maybe I have. I find it sometimes works the other way, when we disagree we get the mods title thrown at us but I honestly feel tht in the main we get it right. BTW dont worry about calling me a prick or worse if you feel like it, a few do most days, woke today to read a pm telling me I'm a ****er, tool and arse hole, was asked to ban a wum from a board yesterday, read whet he had said along with many complaints so banned him from that board. The mod who aske for the ban and members who complained are OK but I'm the prick for pressing the button.
Syd. Maybe I'm not explaining myself to well but this in no way is a personnel dig at any mod in particular. More a general observation of problems that can and do occur with having fans for mods. From personal experience a few months back I had a post on the Newcastle board edited and re posted as a quote of mine. To me thats far worse than any pointless mud throwing that goes on. I complained to a mod (Only time in seven years) and was told to basically **** off. Why? Cause the mod was a Newcastle fan.
and there is the main problem of the forum, well maybe more a downside than problem. The idea is that each board follows the very liberal rules of the forum then after that is run to suit the fans of that club, the fan/mods are supposed to do that. We have some boards with tighter moderation than the BBC and others with a free for all. The Arsenal board stop just about all wumming and the Fulham board dont want a mod and sort things between them. All forms of moderating have pros and cons and to me, what happened to you on the newcastle board would turn you off going back. On here we enjoy the debates with Newcastle fans so encourage them, that brings the odd numpty along but we just send Bill, Roger,Bart or Shamless in. My role is not to agree with how a board is run but to make sure its run the way the fans of that team want it.
Its a breath of fresh air after the faceless twats at the BBC. I'm more than happy with the Mods here and welcome mods with views and opinions. It would be avery dull world if we all agreed all the time. Well it would be for me anyway. Lol
Personally, i think we the mods we have (without kissing my own arse), are spot on. We were picked by the rest of you , remember, and i feel we were chosen because to a man we are 'die hard' fans in every sense of the word, and not 'Mag haters', which i feel is vital for the balance. We all enjoy Cest, Roger and Bill getting stuck into the Mags, indeed us the mods will join in and fight for Sunderland, but i know i have NEVER censored someone having a difference of opinion with me, and i have never seen it happen unjustly by any of the other guys. I've had run ins with people, and left every single quote, i've been in the wrong (once, maybe? ahem...), i've been in the right, debate is what keeps us coming back to the forum. We welcome difference in opinion, as uniform agreement is as interesting as signing an injured french left winger.
Would rather have the mods we have than some tool with no sense of humour or opinion on SAFC. Not sure what happened yesterday but, I don't think our bunch of no hopers (sorry lads) great mods would delete a thread just because they disagreed with it they are bigger than that. Seems it's something else for us to bitch at each other about come on lads grow up and ask why things are done, I'm sure the mods will tell you outright.
in reply Cyprus, as I said I never saw the thread/article, was using it as an example, of how things can be misinterpreted or go wrong, some times spelling, the wrong word.or the wrong word put in the wrong place, then world war three starts, I of all people know because, I have started world war three, over a simple thread about music, just trying to be helpful, but some of the mods on that site, are woeful. this is not a downer on you, but I have to respect people who have been good to me, and helped, otherwise I would have been in no end of ****, NOT 606 could have been a closed door to me. as I said before all these mods are Sunderland fans first and formost, if you like you can have private dialoguge, just talk. if it dont work out,,,,,, **** happens, but not on our site, I hope we all try to resove things amicably. a two edged sword realy mate. but I have no answers, only support, for all our folks on this site. and the few chosen mags, who contribute to our site.
Wise geezeer, was going to say twat, but with the mods looking over my shoulder well???????????????????BUT AGREED AGAIN. SPOT ON.
well this uprising is all great but the big news is the wigan board have hit 20 fans no honestly i havent seen any bad blood from mods but the posts about down with the mods i have heard for someone was from anouther board trying to stir up trouble
