The coach of my kids U12 team has recently told the players that if they feel contact when in the box they are to go down. I told the coach that if I see my kid diving I will take him off the pitch! The coach feels it is not diving just making a foul more obvious. I disagee and feel that a player should try to stay on his feet and score/pass. It is down to the ref to make that decision and I understand that if refs are not making the difficult decisions then that frustrates players and coaches and may encourage coaches to complain and players to go down easily. Am I a dinosaur out of touch with the modern game or am I right to say that all fans dislike it when players go down too easily?
Not at all mate - I'm 24 and have a 2 year old son just getting into football.... When i'm teaching him how to play i will never, ever, teach him to dive....always try and stay on your feet and get a shot or pass in and the referee can decide the rest..... I find that disgusting that a coach is teaching kids that ethos of football!!!
There is hope, as the kids have revolted and said that they don't agree with the coach and have said so! The coach has backed down.
Good to hear, I hate diving, I distinctly remember calling Ashley Young a **** the other day for it.. Absolutely hate it.
i cant stand the players who dive. the south american, spaniards and the like are the worst at it. they do it all the time. it annoys me SO much.
You can't just blame players from abroad, plenty of Englishmen do it in the EPL! Can't say I blame them though if you're under so much pressure to win and everyone else is getting penalties from diving, you should aswell!
I remember Zokora blatantly diving to win a penalty for Spurs a few years back against Pompey, but was too disgusted to celebrate the resulting goal I'm probably in the minority!
If the coach is employed by Liverpool FC, I suggest you tell your kids they have no future there. <gegendivers>
Football is a contact sport...getting touched is not an excuse to go down...think it's ****ty to dive and also didn't support the zakora penalty!
the worst british player to do it now is aaron ramsey ..and as we all know arsenal are the experts at this
no joke the truth , naked eye ..never lies ... only 2 in front of ramsey sanchez is the biggest diver in the prem .and not far behind is borini ..
