No not Fletcher......but Terry Brown and his assistant Stuart Cash at AFC Wimbledon.......2pts behind Argyle on 4pts.
And which miracle worker would you replace Fletcher with Plyborn and how would you fund Fletcher's pay-off when what we clearly need is 2 or 3 more experienced players?
Funding Fletcher's pay off is cheaper than lifting this club out of the Conference........how long can he keep getting it wrong and not paying the price for failure.
I realise you are not defending Fletcher as such notdistant. I read your comments as more defending Brent for doing things on the cheap and not putting hand in pocket. I know Brent has said no big bucks thrown at it and I know we have to live within our means etc. The problem is though that you don't have to sit through it, and neither does plym either may I add. I know you would both go to games if you could so that isn't a "I'm a better supporter than you" stance from me but it is a fact. If you did then I think you would be less in the Brent camp than you are from afar. Brent also promised to return this club to it's former glory. Nobody, well not many, expect it to be overnight but they do expect him to be more hands on and proactive. Up to now all I've see is his outside business interests grow out of his purchase of the club. It is what others see also and why should they not want to see him more interested in argyle and give it at the least a small boost. From where I sit in my season ticket seat every other week it is harder to defend Brent than it was. When I witness dire fare week in and week out it becomes harder still. If Brent wants to even keep bums on seats that he has now he has to serve up better entertainment. If he doesn't then the bums will be fewer and fewer and you know what that will mean.
I'm not defending Brent, I'm merely trying to get people to remember what he has actually said and judge him against that, not what they'd have liked him to do. I would also like to remind everyone that nobody - other than the "Irish consortium" that everyone hated so much - wanted the club. Without Brent, Plymouth would not now have a League football club of any kind. Football managers are hired & fired at a tremendous rate across football, which tends to suggest to me that there aren't many out there that are actually worth very much. That being the case, I'd rather put any money there is into bringing in a couple of additional experienced players rather than paying a manager to go away. I noticed Madjo made some very complimentary remarks about Fletcher. Now before you say "they all say that", what he actually did say was "I can't believe how fantastic the manager is, I'm learning a lot from him," Madjo told BBC South West. "No disrespect to the other managers I've played under, but I've never had someone like this." Madjo continued: "He's been in the game and he knows what he's talking about. It's a good set-up here compared to so many places I've been to." Now that's rather more fulsome than you usually hear when players try to ingratiate themselves but more significantly, it's tantamount to insulting everyone he's ever worked with, including his current employers at Aldershot, who he has to return to in a month's time. Either he's very undiplomatic or he really does think Fletcher's good.
I think Madjo had had a falling out at Aldershot and was becoming sidelined.....so we could maybe benefit from that .........he has been here for half his allotted time so decisions will need to be soon about his stay.
He's still on their books so it was either a very rash or a very significant thing to say - or both. It seems he's made a reasonable start so it'll be interesting to see how he gets on if he gets 90 minutes today.
Hard to judge in such a short time....but he is no worse than Chadwick and poor mis-used Feeney......maybe Feeney would benefit from playing off of Madjo's shoulder....he certainly looked a better player in that role with Griffiths.
