Downing has added nothing to the team and kuyt is a headless chicken. Other than that we played incredibly today and we should have won

We played well nothing more to be sad about this game, no blame or poor performances and if we keep this up it will be a good season.

oh the performance was superb......still in the hunt...and we done all the big teams now.........but yes..stewart downing is utterly horrific at delivering a decent ball.........and jordan henderson is quite simply not a right midfielder.....and dirk kuyt dosent have the pace......when january arrives i think a right winger and a striker need to be addressed

shame bellers wasnt fit to play but with gary speeds death i guess some things are more important than football...

if anything we don't get enough men in the box. Can't help but feel that we missed Gerrard and Bellamy (though obviously I completely understand him not playing) in that sense, or even Maxi who is also clever at timing his runs.

I think that's a bit harsh. Our wide players had 1 player to aim at for most of the game - Suarez. Not sure how many headers he's going to win against Lescott & Kompany from balls that are just floated in. That means the ball in would have had to be perfect to split the 2 defenders and find him.

I actually thought we put in some decent deliveries, But we had Suarez up front on his own and we didn't really have a big target to aim at. Downing didn't have a good first half but in the second he came right in to it

I think Hendo has a really good cross in him. When he and Carroll mature I'm sure they will produce a few goals between them. Our biggest problem was that there was never anyone in the box, just a load of blue shirts against a single red.

Crossing from wide positions today was never going to be in the game plan, City had Richards, Lescott and Kompany in defence along with Toure and Barry in central midfield all of whom are over 6ft. Man City arent a team that you are going to win alot of headers against.

Saying that I've been disappointed with Downing, 20mil is alot of money and he has years of prem experience (Although after a glittering start Young hasnt done much for Manure recently either)

Downing does need to improve with his final ball but it was a good overall performance against what are the new invincibles. <laugh>

That Arsenal team would destroy them. imo of course.

Wide balls? Maybe. But overall, I thought our ball retention was brilliant, making a lot of other moves possible.

just going to keep saying it until it happens Raheem Sterling, whats the worst thing that could happen? better than watching downing or kuyt. Or maybe try johnson further forward, he played RW for pompy for a bit and Kelly is a solid RB

<peacedove>After yesterday brutal encounter at Anfield Liverpool in Londaon tomorrow for the semi final of Carling cup.
In as much as I do want us to win the competition I do
not want us to put too much pressure on our key players. An example Suarez had
little rest during summer.I think he should stay behind for this game.In addition, the
following players can take some rest or be on the bench.
Agger,Johnson,Skrtel, Enrique. If key players are playing many games within short period of time they can easily get injured.
Do you think we shouild play aur strongest side against Chelsea.?

It's a shame we didn't Andy on sooner to give Luis a bit or support in the box and another person to aim for. We hardly had anyone in the box.

I think Henderson and Carroll should be used as impact subs for the time being, and then let them grow from there. They seem to play better in the latter stages of the game.
