Hi, my name is Tom Beckingham and I am a third year student at Liverpool John Moores University, studying Sport Development with the business of sport. I am asking for you to take 15 minutes out of your time to complete a short questionnaire for my dissertation project. The aim of the project is to gain an insight into fans perceptions of who is responsible for the current financial state of the Premier League. I would be extremely grateful for your time. https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/M7MS5NM
Done. Always difficult with these surveys but I think you needed to add a bit more context in the introduction to the survey as it seems to assume some prior knowledge. I answered as I view the EPL as a whole which is vastly different to how our club here is run. We were very lucky to survive the boom and bust of ITV Digital, and owners who were either intent of fleecing the club for their own profit or have all the business acumen of a worm cast. We now have football loving owners who are the envy of the game in terms of finding talent, bringing them on and the selling to the highest bidder all the while supplementing that talent with quality players who don't cost the earth and investing in the stadium, training facilities and so on. Good luck with the dissertation, I would be interested in reading your breakdown from the survey at least. I did mine a few year back on stadia design and I have a cousin who is a lecturer at JMU.
Point noted. I tried to be unbiased in my approach which is why I used quotes rather than to emphasize my own opinion through reading but I do get where you're coming from and I will take that into my focus groups. I will happily post the data collected from the survey for you to look at when it's completed. Who is your cousin out of interest? Is he in the sports development department?
I adjusted my survey a couple of times before getting it right. Might be worth a brownie point or three if you critique your own method - it worked for me. And focus, keep your dissertation sharp even if that makes for dry reading. Mine ended up being sightlines, parabolic curves and angles and all the easy read stuff went into the appendix alas... I had over 18,000 words first draft - whittled down to 11,998. Eventually. Good luck with it. My cousin isn't at JMU anymore, but he was high up. Very high up and is now a visiting professor elsewhere. Ridiculously bright branch of the family!
Thanks for the advice. I have tried to get drafts in early to improve upon it with more time to spare so hopefully I can follow a similar pattern to yourself.
