That's all that was . Very worried about how Premier League teams treat this competition in general but how we treated it today is unforgivable imo . Shameful !
I think it was more about the respect for our club and the position we are in and our PL survival is more important to me
I'm not sure it's any different than it used to be with top clubs fielding weaker teams agains lower tier opponents. For many years we were the ones looking up and doing our best to take a scalp. I'm not sure we'd have noticed, or cared, about higher division teams fielding second string teams. That said, it is a cup I feel we could do well in. The biggest disappointment for me was the loss to Everton in the 5th round couple of years ago. Thats when we showed disrespect to the competition as we were against a good team, in the latter stages of the competition, and we put out a second string team.
Disagree. That side should have been good enough to beat a div 2 side. Sunderland is a far more important game coming up.
That team we put out today was more than good enough to win the tie it's a shame that the players didn't do what they were supposed to do with conviction it was slow and laborious no zip in the pass or movement.
Being the 5th round , the Everton line up was even more disrespectful for me .Would like to know what part Monk and Curtis actually played in putting these line ups out . I'm afraid some on here underestimate the Oxford team who have lost one game in their last 17 games . Not playing Eder this game was criminal imo , just because we are a Premier League team doesn't mean we can throw anyone out and expect to win
The defence we put out today was just begging for a loss .I certainly won't put to much weight in Tabanou's effort today considering his minutes , injury and supporting cast and not in that order. How many times did our defence get breached today . A good chance of 11 changes from this team to play against Sunderland ....it says everything about our line up today imo
'Embarrassing, gutless and not up for the fight': Twitter reacts with fury as Swansea City are dumped out of FA Cup Link:http://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/...s/embarrassing-gutless-not-up-fight-10711965?
THIS ^^^^^ Some people here would be the first to complain if we thumped Oxford then lost on Wednesday. Curtis picked a number of first teamers, including Cork, Montero, Shelvey and Gomis. Get a grip. The Cup can wait, but we get one shot at survival. That said, I do think we should have had a stronger bench.
To have no defensive bench , with the defence that was fielded could never be explained . Fielding that whole team can't be defended by our game against Sunderland and survival in the Premier .
Yes it can. Easily. The Prem is all that counts - this season especially. Even winning the FA Cup would mean nothing if we are relegated.
. If we are interested in remaining in the Premier players like Naughton and Eder should have been used today . We could have fielded a better team and used it to our advantage staying in The Premier .
No. Today's game would only affect our stay in the Prem if we'd have fielded our starting 11. Otherwise, it's an irrelevance.
Eder and Naughton should have started this game in preparation of the rest of the season ...period . Rangel is not going to start the rest of our games and if he doesn't Naughton needs to be kept up to speed . We don't know if Gomis is even staying and or a new striker will come in .Eder should have started this game in case he is the last man standing in a shirt ...those are just plain facts Aussie ,
No Breezy, it's your opinion. If you think the presence of Eder and Naughton would have won us that game then I'm not sure what team you've been watching all season.
It's a shame the team we put out today had no minutes , never played a game together and nobody to look to for moral support , especially not the defence. To think we can put anyone out against a very good team , regardless of what League they are in , and expect a result is pompous to say the least . Teams we face in the FA Cup and the FA cup itself deserved better respect today and it isn't on the players I'm afraid , a wish to far by whoever the fool was that put that team on the pitch ...manager or chairman or both .
'Clubs are devaluing the FA Cup' please log in to view this image Chris Sutton Former Chelsea & Norwich striker "A lot of clubs have devalued the FA Cup. If teams aren't going to bother taking the competition seriously they should let fans know and tell them not to bother buying tickets." "You can't tell me Liverpool needed to make as many changes as they did. Swansea made 10 changes and got what they deserved." "We shouldn't buy into it when a manager says 'x needs a rest.'" "No they don't."
I'm not talking about winning the game , I'm talking about players that will play a part of our run to survival being kept fresh , and Eder might be one ....if he made the bench he should have started Shepherd will probably not see another minute this season and will be taking care of the sheep from here .
