I truly believe everyone has a right to an opinion, and once stated is then open to opinions that may differ. Thus the original poster can then answer those who differ by deeping his logic/give examples of his viewpoint. And so it continues - good open debate. However we seemed to have lapsed into a recurring circle going nowhere. An opinion is put out and many reply with serious logically composed counter arguement that get ignored. And the SAME original opinion is repeated and repeated with nothing added. Please - good lively debate is entertaing but we seem to be drifting into the realms of irritation - could it be deliberate ? KTF
Lately some of the threads have ended up like flogging a dead horse, different opinions being put forward but no sign of common ground and so it goes on round and round until it becomes tiresome. It's an open forum but these entrenched standoffs are spoiling it for me to a degree.
not too sure of 'deliberate' but i have noticed that some will just form an opinion and no matter the arguments against that opinion they somehow refuse to see things differently...i do get p1ssed off with the 'he is sh1te - get rid' type arguments that the same person will simple repeat over and over with no actual facts to back that thought up. a good instance right now is burge, it seems from a previous thread that most can recognise his faults but also understand we are unlikely to attract a higher class keeper, these same people will also recognise that burge has pulled off some very good saves (including some penalties) to save us dropping points, they are also, usually, the ones that realise we are a third division side right now that is working under some quite strict financial problems caused by years of bad management so they take everything into the equation before forming an opinion. there are times when something is just plain obvious or something is still being worked on and there is time (transfer market a prime example) when some will jump in and complain constantly but as soon as things become clearer they tend to go very quiet rather than a simple 'well, i was wrong there', people do not like to admit they did not get something quite right and that does annoy me, when i see many a lad take a slice of humble pie and hold their hands up yet others will just keep digging a deeper hole until there is no way out. we all make mistakes, we will continue to make mistakes, footballers and club owners are not exempt from this!!
I'm liking this honesty tbf. Those of you who were part of the BBC 606 Forumyears ago will know that things became violent at times. When we were invited over to this site, we then settled with our own team Mods. But things still began to change again. The current Mods know how many members we have, and how many actually contribute, yeah ? Well I know of so many ex members, who now only view these pages instead of contributing, because of the repetative arguments and derailing of topics etc. Me - I get forums. The expectations are identical = Create a thread = get those who disagree (because there is always a debate, ie that's the whole idea) However, then the argumentative 'bully type' keyboard warriors' steps in an ruin a perfctly good point. I don't mind swearing but some folk on here think that they know the best way to, think, act, react or explain a point of view of a poster. If we were all sat in the same room, these people would act with a tad more decorum and respect.....and that's a fact guys. If you're sat in a pub and you think your mate is talking ****e, you tell him.....and you talk out both opinions, and you agree to disagree, yeah? .............not on here...too many become World Cup winning ex managers...who have never coached the game at any level, yet think they're Rock and Roll. Anyway...owa lass has just said shut the feck up !.....Aye pet x
Mark Twain once said "Never argue with an idiot. They will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience".
