His Moroccan flag is a bit aged. Don't even go there with the Mexican sombrero. The poor lad gets ridiculed by opposition supporters every game but he keeps coming back for more. Think he should have a Dutch flag at this stage. The rattle simply has to go.
What? No!! He's been around LR for years, away games too I think. No need to change anything. A rare character.
He sits not far from me in SAR. As Fingi says, he gets abuse from away fans every week because he sits quite close to the School end, but he seems to revel in it. 'Who's the ****er in the hat?' is the regular chant, normally followed by 'One fan, you've only got one fan'.
I actually quite enjoyed watching the movie production aired here last weekend, chronicling of his foray into the world of Olympic ski jumping. Despite being ridiculed for his efforts, Eddie didn't fall in Calgary and acquired the status of men's British record holder in the 50M and 70M ski jumps.
This guy used to sit near me in SAR, closer to the half way line than his current seat. He's moved in the last year or so to be nearer the opposition supporters in the School End where they give him a LOT more attention with, as Stroller says, the "Who's the w****r in the hat?" chant. A character? I wouldn't wear it, would you?
Yes, I heard him interviewed a month or two back and he seemed like a decent bloke to be fair. He was saying the movie had been mooted for many years now. Glad it finally got made.
Get rid of the rattle? NO, NO, NO. A rattle is a by product of footballs history & has nothing to do with todays clappers. Up until the '70's every schoolboy took his rattle to football painted in his clubs colours. Mind you, I hate the sound of them!
Here, here - although they are noisy and also a bit dangerous in the wrong hands at close quarters. When I attended my very first ever R's match (Boscombe & Bournemouth away) with my Dad in Oct 1966, aged 12, he painted a WWII ARP rattle in blue & white for me to bring and pre-match bought me a QPR rosette and a silky scarf, both items I still have, not sure about the rattle. It was a fantastic day out, the R's were 3-1 winners with at least, Rodney scored and totally mesmerized me with his antics - well after that they truly had me, hook, line and sinker 50 years ago - a life sentence I'm still serving. Now be all know how TED rambles on about rival fans mixing it up a bit, but in the terraces we had home fans around us (no segregation in those days), and I found my Dad a bit intimidating and scary at times with frequent outbursts and exclamations of, "get stuck in there", "you dirty dog", "lovely goal", "did you see Rodney" etc. 15 Oct 1966 Bournemouth and Boscombe Athletic v Queens Park Rangers W 1-3 League Division Three Score 3-1 to Queens Park Rangers Competition League Division Three Attendance 12,164
I was sat two rows behind him on Saturday and he got dogs abuse and came back for more. Long may he reign!!!!
You'd get some funny looks if you wore a rosette these days... As for our 'Sombrero' fan above, long may he continue...
