He won't be playing for the Mags if Joe Kinear has anything to do with it. He'll probably call him Malcom Ferdinandes in the contract talks and tell him he is really signing for Manchester United, as Joe fouded the club on the 7th day.
Ah sergio ferdinand heard alot of good things about you, nice to meet you, hows your brothers santon and clio?
I'd say it's down to the agent lads, clearly they're negotiating a new deal and he'd probably just getting better terms. I say that as we and other clubs were linked a while back and nothing came of it
I personally doubt we're in for him. It doesn't seem like the sort of thing we'd do under Ashley (replace a player before they've been sold) as Ashley would want to sell Cabaye first so that he knows how much he has to spend on his replacement. However selling Cabaye for upwards of 20m (not saying he's worth that, just that we wouldn't sell for less and because it's PSG interested we'll also inflate the price further) and replacing him with Fernandes for 10m or less would be astute business.
He had a spell at Everton earlier in his career when he was only 21/22. He's very similar to Cabaye, slightly stronger and a bit more two footed. Although Cabaye has a better eye for a pass and a better range of passing too IMO.
I can't say I've ever been overly impressed with him, he can't even get in the Portugese squad half the time. There was a lot of speculation about him when he went to Portsmouth and Everton. Looked ok but nothing amazing. Done quite well in Turkey over the last couple of seasons but nothing miraculous. Not in Cabayes league for me (although he wasn't very good last year and I do think he'll leave). I thought he was a free transfer? Sir Bob is wanting to pay 10m or less Straight out the Liverpool book of transfer deals. I could see Mike fancying that sort of deal though, Cabaye leaves and is replaced with a free transfer. Be a step backwards though.
I read it as being he's a free transfer as of next season??? Or have I got that wrong? I think his price will be somewhere between 6m-8m but as I said I very much doubt we're in for him. You can't really judge him on his spell at Everton as he was just a kid then and it was his first year in English football. I think he'd be a good replacement for Cabaye, he'd get more goals but wouldn't create as much.
I don't know, the only place he has ever scored goals is Turkey. Wasn't very good at Valencia, to the point they took £1.75m for a player they spunked 12m on. Never managed more than two in a season before he went there. He is in his peak years but he looks all over a player who never lived up to the hype. If he had improved so much since Valencia, surely he could at least make the Portugal squad. Fair enough they have some good players but not even getting in the squad seems a bit unusual. Obviously if free then he is good value.
