I think that Kuyt should start against Everton wide right with Bellamy on the left. My reason is that they both work very hard for the team. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dirk Kuyt has spoken of his determination to regain a regular place in the Liverpool team. The 31-year-old has been one of the first names on the teamsheet in recent years but has started just half of our games so far in 2011-12. He accepts this is an inevitable consequence of Kenny Dalglish building a squad fit to regain Champions League football - and insists he'll do everything he can to force the manager's hand. "From childhood, I've always been disappointed when I'm not in the team because I'm desperate to be involved and make a good contribution," said Kuyt, whose Liverpool CV reads 67 goals in 247 games. "But it also makes me very determined too. I need to continue to prove myself, train as hard as possible and, when I do play, make sure my performance is of a high standard." The 80-time Holland international was brought to Anfield on the back of successive trophy-winning seasons in 2006. Much has changed in L4 since then but Kuyt - who was our top scorer last year with 15 goals - thinks the club is now back on track after a difficult period. He added: "Competition is tough now but it's brilliant for the club that there are so many players to choose from now, top-class international players. The players realise at the end of the day you need more than 11 good players to be successful. "When I first arrived here we had a very good, big squad but for the last two seasons before this one, we haven't had the depth that we did in the first three seasons. "Someone like Craig Bellamy is a strong addition to what is already a very strong squad, and that can only be good for the team. We definitely have better quality now and more players to choose from as well. "I think with the signings we've made, we have a great squad now so we should be ambitious and have confidence in ourselves."
For me this season Kuyt should be starting and Hendo should be being bled into the team slowly. But I'm not the boss!
Morning Sky. I agree, I think Henderson has played too much this season, I don't think he has played badly but Kuyt may have had more of an impact.
Morning mate. Yeah I agree, Hendo has done pretty well to be fair on the lad. I just feel with Kuyt's experience, engine, and attitude we should be making the most of it before his days are numbered. Plus he would be a great person to mentor Hendo slowly into the team.
I totally agree. I thought the intention was to introduce Henderson into the team slowly, but it seems the lad has been chucked into the deep end and told to sink or swim.
It always used to be the way players were brought into the team during the periods of success in the 60s, 70s and early 80s, where replacements were brought through after finding their feet, learning the ethos of simple pass-and-move and getting familiar with their teammates' movement. Now, it seems to be geared to instant success, which is why Carroll is getting such a hard time in print (much as Lucas did for the first three years at Anfield)
I think Kuyt would be important for the Everton game because his experience would be second to none for this type of fixture. Adam will start and I hope he keeps his cool when going for challenges because Martin Atkinson takes no prisoners.
Your having a laugh, kuyt cant pass, cross, beat a man, cant read the game, has no pace, has a terrible first touch and spends most of the game he runs around like a headless chicken trying to get the ball back from 9 out if 10 attacks he breaks down or his abysmal touch(hense the "works hard" myth, complete rubbish morelike, we should have got rid long ago and signed a proper rw as for the muppet who said he makes a "impact' your not serious, all the impact of a chocolate fireguard

Yes there are times that he gives the ball away,touch to heavy,passing backwards instead of forward,to slow Blah blah and more blah But when he scores in big games and scores the winner then suddenly the people that always bash him are giving the Duracell bunny all the praise
ok. 1. kuyt does make an impact in certain games. 2. kuyt retains possession when he passes the ball back ( a lot) 3. kuyt does have bad touch and is slow. 4. the guy has a good football brain. 5. kuyt works hard all in all if you said to me we need kuyts nouse here against everton cos he can get into the box and make a difference and he'll also retain possession and snuf out the baines channel for everton.... well then i'd say thats a good reason to pick him. BUT if you simply say he should play cos he works hard and wants to play thats rubbish cos hendersons stats show he's working hard too. finally i suppose picking bellamy as well means we drop downing? for me if kenny was going to go do anything it'd be to pick a 4-5-1 with bellamy wide left and downing wide right so their pace and width pins everton's attacking threat back. the midfield 3 would then be something like lucas, adam and henderson. In the end will kenny pick both carroll and suarez or just suarez? the one thing i'd not do is pick kuyt ofr work ethic alone, i'd be thinking about bellamy getting sent off to be franks so might pick kuyt at the start to play smart.
I think Kuyt works well with the tangent of Suarez and Bellamy. Add Downing in there and you have players willing to close the opposition down quickly, work hard (seems to be the phrase of the day) to get back and help defensively, and the creativity should be enough to score a few goals against Everton. I don't think Kuyt should play wide anymore but I think he can definitely be the Forward with Suarez just off him. Either way, whatever you think of the guys footballing ability, he has the right attitude of not pouting but getting on with his work and trying to improve to get back in the starting line-up. We need more of this, not players who stick out a fat lip and go talk to twitter about it.
Question, what year did we buy him? Was he there for the FA Cup win? I think he was the year after right? Was he one we were heavily linked with or was he an out from nowhere type of purchase.
