Sorry guys, I cannot reveal my source on this, but he did tell me that Sir Stan would re sign for Stoke.

Here goes, Pulis is holding a press conference on Tuesday, to publically disown Crouch, kick him out of the first team squad and put him up for transfer.

Pulis is furious that Crouch disobeyed his instructions and scored from outside of the penalty area and NOT FROM A SET PIECE, as Pulis will say; 'this sort of behaviour is not acceptable at this football club and will not be tolerated, it will give some of the lads a seriously bad example'

Crouch is believed to have apologised to all concerned at the football club and has given his word that he did not mean to do this, he was playing for a ricochet off the full back for a throw in, further he has undertaken NEVER to attempt such an over the top self publicity stunt ever again.

However, it is thought that Pulis is unmoved by this apology and will get rid of Crouch ASAP.

    More to follow

Absolutely priceless Nick I suspect the raeson there have been no replies is that we can not think how to top it

You are certain to get a double 1st in Eng Lit and Stokie Wit

Just a shame Pulis could not see this to make him realise ( too arrogant) the comtempt and ridicule he engenders

    SiS

Ps Been trying to remember where the Hanging Gate is/was Is/was it on the way to Chesterton

Wasn't the Hanging Gate on the left, on the A34 out of Newcastle towards Cross Heath?

It was and still is there today! It's about a good half mile from the main Hanford roundabout on the left hand side, towards Newcastle but way before Cross Heath Smit. Just over the rd from the Black Swan pub on the corner of London Road... it's still sells a good pint too!

Smither'sI thought Jimmy Gs was brilliant v Brummie but that goal is the BEST individual volley/control I don't think he even looked up GOAL I have seen. Told the Gunners fans I thought it was better than RVPs v Everton but they say it's not.... WHO are they kidding. YOU will NOT see Lionel Messi score a goal to better that one.

GET IN! Had to smile when they kept showing it on MOTD 2 last night.. AWESOME to be there and see it live.

Potts, now I'm confused. The pub at the end of London Rd is the Black Lion, and the 'pub' just along the A34 towards Newcastle is now a Chinese restaurant called Furama Palace, or something like that. Before it became a restaurant it was a pub called the Boulevard.

The Hanging Gate pub that I'm referring to was demolished a while back and there is now a KFC on the same plot. To convince myself that I wasn't going senile prematurely, I googled it and the post codes match. One hit from 2008 said that it had been closed for years and was due for demolition.

Perhaps there is another pub of the same name that I'm not aware of, but as I have lived in and around Newcastle all my life, there aren't many pubs that have escaped me. I hope that's the case as I'm always on the lookout for new places to have a pint or two! :emoticon-0167-beer:

It's not YOU mate it's ME my stroke etc... you are quite correct. It WAS on the right hand side of the A34 it is also a KFC and a pretty good one at that. <laugh>
Is it one and the same place Smit? It's more far end of Wulstanton than Cross Heath I think anyway? Right on the roundabout of A34 and the rd into Chesterton is opposite?

It has been there for quite some time too! that KFC I think? before 2008.. I've used it more than once... Still, Black Lion is still a decent pt and I also use the Boat and Horses in Newcastle.. just opposite Morrison's corner of Brook Street.. you need any more pubs Smit, just let me know. I've only lived in Newcastle for 29 yrs.. <doh>

    Hope that's cleared things Smit.

Now you're thinking of a different pub Potts. The one that was by the roundabout that leads to Chesterton from Wolstanton at the end of Dimsdale Parade was knocked down a while ago and is now a McDonalds. It was called the Dimsdale, then it became the Sportsman before it was eventually knocked down.

The Hanging Gate was much closer to Newcastle between what is now Sainsbury's and D & K Motorcylces. If you look on Google maps the pub is still there, but once you put that little yellow fella on the road you can see them building KFC.

I think I've only ever been in the Boat and Horses once in my life! If we go for a pint in Castle in tends to be The Brown Jug or The Museum.

Excuse the French but it's me pal... so B******* to it <laugh>

Yep I KNOW the one you are talking about, just past Sainsburys which was only finished last year is on the LEFT hand side is of course a KFC only a couple of years old if that? AND it is indeedy CROSS HEATH. I did use the Hanging Gate but before I moved to Newcastle. Lot's of rock music used to be played thare? I'm talking many years back unless I'm wrong again Smit?

NOW I have it right I'll take a lie down.

(Edit) Smit, the pub I remember where I first mentioned was the "Dimsdale" YES Ma Lady used to live in Bradwell easy innit. <yikes>

Not sure about the music Potts as I never went to the Hanging Gate. I do remember there was lots of live music at a pub behind what is now Morrisons. I think it was called the Wayfarer, but alas, that's also been demolished.

Found this photo of the Castle Tavern on the internet. It was formerly the Hanging Gate but is now closed, possibly demolished of course. Looking at the photo it does look familiar to me, though I cannot remember if I ever went in it. If I did it would have been in the late 60s, early 70s
