So what do we make of Dion Sanderson. I think last night was his first appearance snd he gets sent off for being an idiot, I hope Warburton has given him a good bollocking this morning and fined him 2 weeks wages. We have had enough hotheads over the years, we don’t want another one.
I was fuming with him last night and wanted him sent back to Wolves. I realise that was a little over the top and also, having seen his groveling apology I reckon a good bollocking and a fine will suffice. Looked very good before his brain fart.
I’ve seen him twice live for us and last night on the TV. Plus live playing for Birmingham against us. For Birmingham he was comfortably their best player, not that that means much. I thought he was overexcited when he came on against Reading, charging around a bit. Was fine against Hull. Back to over excited, even before the sending off incident, yesterday. I think he’s just immature, needs a talking to, which doubtless he has had now, and a calming influence/minder on the pitch - Barbet? The lad has talent and an impressive physicality, plus he obviously wants to impress - just needs to learn how to harness this stuff. He’s ****ing lucky he didn’t cost us a point or 3 yesterday, and, whether off his own back or through advice, did right in in tweeting his apologies.
He's a good player with a hard, aggressive style from what I've seen. Warbs will help him mellow out, keeping his vigour but play within professional perameters, and not take strongly contested stuff on the pitch personally..
Yes and it was reported that he apologised to his team mates at HT. He was hacked down from behind after he had already passed the ball to Stefan, a very orange yellow, and a butt it wasn't. Austin did far more earlier in the season. But he must learn he can't stick his face up to an opponents like that without risking a red. I've read he has no previous in this kind of behaviour either.
Like many I was angry with Dion’s naivety last night. However, having read his mature and contrite response to his team mates I am big enough to forgive and let matters move on. At the end of the day we won the game, we’re 3rd in the league and Dion’s moment of madness galvanised the team and the supporters. URssssss!!!
It could have cost us 3 points, and we don't know how much that could have cost at the end of the season, but he and us got lucky. Think it could work in our favour in the end. Man enough to say he was an idiot, and if Warbs and the whole staff players put a arm around the young man and he learns from it, we might have a decent player on our hands.
