Ex-footballer Dion Dublin joins BBC's Homes Under the Hammer
He had a keen eye for scoring goals, but now Dion Dublin will be able to focus on his other love - property.

The ex-England striker has been named as a new presenter of the BBC's popular morning TV show Homes Under The Hammer.

The 45-year-old, who played for Manchester United, Coventry and Aston Villa, will join Martin Roberts and Lucy Alexander for the 19th series.

"I still want to achieve. I want to learn the art of presenting," he told BBC Radio 5 live.

"I sat down with Lucy and Martin, who gave me words of advice."

The four-times capped England international started playing in 1988 and retired 20 years later.

Dublin, who invented an instrument called a dube, was asked if he will have an influence on the music used in the show. "I've put a lot of CDs on the desk of the series producer." My guess, there in the bin!!!
"Cannot get back into footie then dion".....

Ten steps to solving Dublin's housing crisis

The combination of a range of factors are providing the perfect storm of conditions for continued runaway house price inflation.

On top of the chronic supply issue the banks are now starting to lend again and of course interest rates remain at historic low rates.

While a return to mortgage lending is a good thing for home buyers, it can only increase house price inflation further in the capital and also in Cork and Galway which are also experiencing supply issues.

Meantime, many believe the vulture funds which have been buying up Irish properties are set to be followed into Ireland by more conservative funds also in search of investments here.

Increasing rents are bringing more investors into the market while heavy local authority taxes on home construction also mean that profit margins are artificially low on new home construction.

Now is the time for the Government to act in a concerted manner to diffuse the overheated Dublin market.
