  1. To all those who were asking about Berba coming here, i went over to the Manc board to ask about him.

Apparently, he's on over 100k a week and if he's sold, they reckon it'll be to another CL team and most likely abroad.

    Thoughts?

I personally never saw it happening.

Yeah I never saw it happening either. And to be fair, I think most of us agreed it would only be good if he was on decent wages and for a decent fee... and obviously that wouldn't have happened.

We'll be in for someone younger anyway!

In my opinion we'd only sell him if he hands in a formal transfer request. He's shown his ability to fit into the team and get vital goals this season, and the only reason he hasn't played as much recently is because Rooney and Hernandez work better together in the big games. If he does ask to leave, I reckon we'd be looking for at least £15 million from an overseas club, but possibly £20 million plus from a PL club, particularly one who we know has cash burning a hole and a big number 9 shaped hole to fill.

As for whether he would go to Newcastle, only he can answer that. I think given his age he might be willing to go to Newcastle cos he knows he'll get more games than if he goes to a club challenging in the CL. And he probably remembers the hero worship that the Toon give to players like Shearer, and that could be very attractive to him.

On the other hand, he may well still want a chance to finish his career with a bang and a CL winners medal, even if it means he won't play all the games. And given how much criticism he's had from some United fans for his languid style, he may be wary of going to Newcastle as some of the Toon fans may give him the same kind of stick if they think he's not giving 100%. Also, his recent wage demands at United were £140k a week, so I dunno if Ashley would be willing to stump up that kind of cash for a player who probably won't ever be sold on.

This sums up my view. <ok>
