My mate's managed to get 2 FREE tickets to poopey v saints and he has asked me if I would be up for it. However, they are in the home end and I dunno whether I can shut my noise for 90 mins especially if we score. Atm I am 50/50 on whether to go or not but I would really like to go!! Arrggghhhh decisions!
Hahahaha I got balls but it only takes one second, one decision, one goal for me to temporarily lose it and I'll come home with a black eye and it's not the colours I'm worried about!!
i'd say don't go, you won't enjoy nearly as much since you'd have to hold your tongue if saints score and celebrate if pompey score.
If Pompey are giving away free tickets for their end it'll probably be half empty...it normally is, you'll be fine
I agree. If a pompey fan sat in the northam and started celebrating I for one would give him a slap. Let alone everyone else. It would be same down at pompey for a saints fan. Not advised!
I agree there are a fair few tools that sit there yes. But it's not the same atmosphere anywhere else.
I wouldn't go if I was you, only takes Saints scoring etc and you forgetting where you are and celebrating. Then that's you a target for some twat who calls himself a fan.
Any other game I'd say go for it but I personally wouldn't be able to sit with them lot and have to pretend to cheer if they score. It'll be the worst feeling ever. Try and sell your ticket somehow, then you're making a tidy profit and keep your facial features in tact.
I have to say I have done it before.....the lads I went with I have been mates with for 20 or so years and good honest football supporters who just happen to support Portsmouth. Even so I was still bricking it for 90 or so mins and how I kept on my hands when Saints scored I shall never know but what a buzz it was wearing a Saints shirt in their home end! To be fair the same mates have done it with me at St Marys wearing their blue under huge coats but we are mates so it's all okay and we just love our footie despite supporting different teams. Having said all that I went in there with 5 good mates and still didnt feel safe so maybe you should give it a miss.
If it was any other football club I would say go and chat in an intelligent mature way with the people sitting near you about football and discuss the game with them in a knowledgable and articulate way and you will be appreciated and everyone will have a good time. But hey this is our highly sensitive neighbours and they will hate you with a venom you will have never experienced in your life. You will be better off watching this at home or down your local pub with rational well balanced non violent and non abusive people. I worked for many years amongst these people and believe me they do not need the excuse of a football match to be positively vile and nasty. For your own safety I would advise you no to go and I am sure that same advice would be given by Hampshire Constabulary.
