Despite the obvious one, that they are in the ascendancy/high in confidence and we seem to be stalling, I think the main two differences are; Their manager knows his best 11/team, they play a very settled side/formation in back to back games, whereas SB still doesn't seem to know his best 11, swapping and changing most games, this cannot help. He seems to think these professional athletes cannot play back to back games, resting and changing personnel, are Burnley more fitter than us? Even us supporters cannot second guess SB choice and baffled at the line up. Like him or loathe him, Joey Barton, has made a difference, given them steel and a bit of bite in the centre of the team, pretty much like our Ash was. We desperately need someone to get a grip in the team in my view. It is just a pity that Greegsy is so far back, he is very vocal and passionate, with his "colourful language", great entertainment from where we are! What do you think?
Dawson does a fair bit of that as does Davies but you are right, we could do with somebody like that in the middle of the park. They compared the teams from 2008 and now a while back on here and I'd have Ash in the current team ahead of Huddlestone/Meyler any day of the week
The only position that SB has rotated (when having a fully fit squad) is Livermore's partner in CM. So that's hardly chopping and changing. The FA Cup games selections have clouded this because it seems he has. If you look at the league games since Snodgrass came back it IS a settled side.
Not really he isn't, Livermore's a better athlete and footballer than Ash - a better leader? Not in this lifetime, nor the next.
My Mate is a Burnley fan he is from there said they have had many games this season when the other team have been equal and in some games better than them but they have managed to nick it. He also said they have had that bit of luck which is needed obviously not all the time that's why they are top of the league. When they played us at their place I went Hernandez misses a great chance then a few minutes later they score, against Bolton they were the worst team and was losing 1.0 with a few minutes to go and win it 2.1, Blackburn on radio 5 said were much the better team and should have had two penalties instead Burnley win it 1.0 with a penalty. This to me says they know how to win in close games yes have had some luck but also have goal scorers. My other mate said he was getting his lucky cat out in the garden and rubbed it three times for a city win since then we haven't won I told him on Sunday to stick in the Burnley fans drive and hope that does the trick.
Burnleyugh have followed Southamptonughs example and sacrifice a goat in the centre circle before kick off each match. That's the biggest difference.
Burnley have a one-chance-one-goal striker. You can't put a price on that in that divison, you really ought to have signed him.
The difference is their attack. They have Vokes and Gray that are both scoring frequently. We have Hernandez who has gone off the boil. We could have signed Gray you know. Instead we took a £2m pound punt on Norway's answer to Nick Proschwitz.
Brucey says 'you are only as good as your strikers' Dyche says 'we have two proven strikers' Burnley over the last 3-4 seasons have always had one or two proven strikers to select Big difference!
