Tottenham are ready to pounce after Atletico Madrid hinted their striker Diego Forlan is on his way back to the Premier League. The ex-Manchester United man has been a long-term target of Harry Redknapp, who tried to sign the Uruguayan in the January transfer window, as well as last summer following his impressive displays at the 2010 World Cup. Atletico were determined to keep hold of their player on both those occasions, but it appears they are now ready to move the 32-year-old on to a new club. Forlan is no longer a fans' favourite at the Vicente Calderon and has fallen down the pecking order, so selling him would no longer risk outrage. The striker has already turned down a move to Turkish side Galatasaray and president Enrique Cerezo suggested he want a return to the Premier League. He said:" Diego will decide what happens, but it looks like his first choice will be England." Forlan has scored 66 goals in 102 La Liga appearances for Atletico, but only scored eight times in 32 league games last season.
