âIf it means Max staying here and seeing out his contract, then fair enough. We could get an offer for him, going into the final year of his contract, and decide it is the right thing for us to accept, or we could do what we did with Jermaine Beckford, who stayed until his contract was up. âIn the meantime, there might be contract negotiations going on â there are so many scenarios that can happen over the next few weeks with all the players, but you always want to keep your best ones.â http://www.thetelegraphandargus.co....ted_will_keep_Snodgrass_and_Gradel___Grayson/
It is true they should get him tied down especially since he's said he wants to sign on the dotted line if he's offered. If it's a money issue there shouldn't be one, he's our star player and we can afford to pay him as much as any other club is offering so he should certainly get what he asks for. I'd be surprised if he went all asshole and was asking for anything unreasonable anyway, I'd expect £15k a week would be the max we need to offer to get him to sign.
Contracts can be written to give a rise if you get promoted, but Grayson/Bates might want to work on shorter contracts. We gave a few defensive newcomers last year 3 year contracts and they've not done the job. That'll worry Simon. Also, he might be thinking Max wouldn't make it the Premiership, so why offer 3 years? Issue might be length of contract wanted, not the money
Believe me MAX would make it in any league he has got over is childishness he has pace vision and good control a star in the making
This seems pretty simple: - Gradel has said he wants to stay and would sign a new contract - He's one of our best players, we should be able to offer him the money he'd want - He's has sell on potential - if we gave him a 3/4 year deal it wouldn't be a risk because he's only 23 and there's a host of club willing to pay money for him
Spot on Best He needs nailing down (KB) not MAX !! Potential is both for the benefit of the club and unfortunately the benefit of KB if and when he sells him on.
If he decides he wants to move though we can't make him sign a new contract. People have this in their heads about Beckford aswell that if we'd offered him more he would have decided to stay, despite already having been offered the chance to play in the PL on far more money than we could afford to give him.
The bit about "might be contract negotiations going on" sounds suspiciously like an afterthought comment by Grayson, realising that he's giving away too much. If there's contract negotiations going on, then I must be seeing pigs fly right now.....
we av to tie our best players down then at least if they go lets get a fat fnt to make pappa smurfee ---not like beckford but i dont want to make pappa ssmurf any richer
