Did we really think thigs would change

So the transfer market has closed and we aint got a striker and we aint got........ we got a right footed left back.

So we now know that we would never get our striker cause it didnt happen. We waited 9 ****ING MONTHS FOR ONE and still it didnt happen.

I am concerned by the events but theres been so many players moving,,,,,,,, but not to us.

OH MAN AM I SICK OF THIS REGIME!

 

In fact I have just realised after having a few drinks and watching the obvious unfold. I am not even surprised. In fact I am numb. I dont know what to think anymore. I am starting to question whether this is worth it. Does that fat **** even know what half of us think and love of our club. Does he even think we care. ..... We are the geordies.... the...... I am drained!

I do realise it's half 2 in the morning and nobody will read this but I'm going to write it anyway.

I'm still happy with our squad. A new striker or two would've been nice, but I knew deep down that we wouldn't sign anyone. I even voted for £0 on Chappaz' "How much more will we spend?" thread.

Ba and Best aren't the greatest players alive, but Best seems to be enjoying his football here and he's scoring the odd goal. If he gets the service from Jonas, Obertan, Ben Arfa, Cabaye and maybe Santon, he'll score more and so will Ba, who I thought was really unlucky not to score against Fulham.

Players don't always hit the ground running. It took us a season of misery before Enrique, Barton, Nolan, Carroll and Jonas started playing well, but Cabaye, Marveaux and Obertan are certainly looking good and we've still got Santon to look forward to. Players like Raylor and Krul are starting to come out of their shells a bit and Krul is looking every bit a Premier League 'keeper now.

It isn't all doom and gloom lads, and this is coming from a seasoned pessimist. We've started the season well and what's to say we can't carry it on for a bit longer?

Ruiz, Roux, Maiga and Cisse weren't going to just waltz in and bag us 30 goals.

And I didn't even mention Vuckic, Gosling and Sammeobi.

 

Its just if we added a good striker I think we would give top 7 or 8 a real good go

I don't think we will quite reach them heights - althought there is always the January window...

 

Agree, I don't think we're likely to get the top 8 with Ba and Best, but maybe I'll be proven wrong - it's early yet who knows. I'm sure some people several months ago were saying they'd be happy with Ba anyway, what the hell happened to them? A few bad games whilst abstaining from food and water and suddenly he is apparently as much use as Shola? It also sort of annoys me that some people are instantly tying in how much money we've spent with how good our signings are. Santon, Cabaye, Ben Arfa; all 3 fully signed for 15m which is fantastic - I can't help but wonder if we'd spent 3 or so million more on each of them people would be more content.

 

I honestly think our best crack at Europe is through the Fair Play League. We received 83 yellows last season by my count, and 40 of those were from Barton, Nolan, Carroll, Enrique, Perch, Campbell and Smith!

 

Agree, I personally believe Ba will be our topscorer this year with about 15. He will come good!

I also believe we will sign 3 or 4 in January. Erik Pieters or Aly Cissokho may come and I also think Maiga might come. Although we will probably have different targets by then

 

Agreed. I guess we're just seeing which forum members have the jerkiest knees tonight. Normal service will hopefully be resumed soon - after all we've added potentially our best player (at least one of the best) to the squad that beat Sunderland away, beat Fulham (a bit of a bogey for us) and drew with the strongest team Arsenal have fielded this season so far. Not a bad start at all.

 

Yeah and from them 3 fixtures last year we only got 3 points (3 draws) 4 more points already hope to keep it going

 

I think we have a decent squad, however the absence of a natural goalscorer is worrying and could cost us a top ten place. Having said that, if ba can replicate the form he had for West Ham last season then we could find a good 15 goals from him, maybe more given that I believe that we have better service to offer.

Your saying that your quite happy with things even though we have been lied to again. You are starting to ACCEPT the situation because over time thats human nature.

Best and Ba. Jeez your happy with this after the world class strikers we have had in the past. I realise we are not the same team as in the 90's but come on do we really have to ACCEPT the ****.

Take the Scunny game for example. Best missed about 6-8 decent chances another decent striker would have took 2-4 of them chances.

In terms of cost our strike force Ba, Best, Loven and Shola cost a total of £1.5m.

Theres league one sides who have spent more on forwards.

Agree we have 1 of the weakest set of strikers in the Premiership. Cant wait for Ashley to sling his hook and take his cronies with him
