Did Swords just get a 7 day 'vacation' by Syd?

Not sure what just happened, cyprussyd posted a thread and removed it, about two 7 day bans.

Yea, check for a post of his and he has 'Banned' under his name.

I think the break will do him good personally. Give him time to reflect on what an antagonistic little blighter he is.

It's a QPR forum, not a Swords forum after all.

 

Difficult to argue, cos he's the boss and it's his site. he obviously got too fed up with trying to separate Swords and one of the guys from the Norwich board, so kicked them off for a week to cool off.

If arguments are escalating and breaking out all over the place, it's probably the best and simplest way to resolve it.

Fair enough that the site management get fed up and a cooling off period is in place as they see fit. But surely there have been better times to ban Swords for a week? Imo he has got his act together recently and his contrubution on here has been very good.

I'm not a fan of BANG! YOU'RE BANNED! With no chance of replying and a chance to state your case. When that is said, syd doesn't seem to be over-moding the boards and for all I know Swords might have got plenty of warnings and in that case 'you live by the sword and you die by the sword' (pardon the pun, couldn't help myself).

Anyway, looking forward to your return Swordsie. A week's not so long, and anyway I'm sure you'll find other things on the net to keep you occupied

Never really had any major issues with Swords myself - just banter. Maybe he could join Barton in purgatory with the Cod Army to reflect on things?

 

The user name annoys me, makes me think of this:

 

Whatever your view of the two posters in question is, for Syd to step in unbidden and impose a ban over the heads of the mods on here is unprecedented. Where does that leave our ability to control how we conduct things on this board?
The modding here has been rightly praised for the relaxed approach that has been taken; is that under threat now? I for one hope not.

 

I've never had a problem with Swords either, and I look forward to his return. Having said that, I do find it frustrating when whole threads are started, or worse still hijacked with prolonged bickering between posters, usually about something totally unrelated to football. It actually puts me off coming on here. That happened in the last few weeks of Cerny's posts too. It just get boring, and some people never know when to let it lie.
I'm on here for football and banter, not for bickering and slagging off.

 

There's the key right there in your own post, Norway. Syd moderates the whole site, and indifivual forum mods moderate their boards, as they see fit. Most of the time that's with a light, hands off approach but sometimes they obviously see that something more is needed. This is probably an accumulation, just like getting a yellow for persistent fouling. Hopefully Swords will come back in a week as the valued member many QPR posters believe he is, rather than the obnixious little troll that some other members think he is. I'm sure that if he gives Syd no trouble, then Syd will leave him in peace to post.

 

Ban this Syd.. he sounds like a really dull person... Ban Me... Let it all burn ... It's a summer riot. Its a very easy basic unsecured site to copy

I heard that all the Mods meet up each month, roll up one trouser leg and play guess the fruit and they all violated Northolt with a Prickly Pear
