My old mum, who most of you know by now, was kinda looking over my shoulder when I was on this site, and asked me what it was all about. I tried to tell her it was a place where like-minded people could share their life experiences and opinions. She asked me what " kind " of people participated in these conversations and that's when the going got tough. I told her they came from a broad spectrum but she wanted to get an insight into the personalities of the regular contributors ( I,d already explainned I,m just an occasional visitor). That was me ****ed, imagine trying to describe Venom/Toby/Trev/Gambol et al, I would need a lifetime. She asked me if there was any woman contributors and I told her all about Tina and her long standing position on here, she asked me why does she bother ? I said she's studying us all for a degree at university, she understood that,( she is a wee bit gullible.) I ended up explaining that everyone on here was making giant strides in trying to become useful members of society having suffered strange and wonderful experiences earlier in life, and although these experiences made them " different" they were not bad people. Did I get it right ?
I've always referred to this as a "football forum" when talking to people but always feel instantly wrong. I don't even give a **** about the football parts of this forum.
Pretty much. Although I'm not retired. Got work for January through to Sept/Oct, was labouring for a bit but place was full of spastics (see beefhulahoopsgate).
Duncan, a wee bit harsh I think, but probably a bait to make Tina bite, which I doubt. Salvatore, I used to think it about it originally as a football forum, I think this was in the transition from the old BBC site, but we all come to recognise it eventually as much more, a whole lot more, ignore it at your peril, don't deny yourself, it's a way of life for the chosen. Ask Gambol/Trev/Rocket/Venom/Pope.

One of many I guess, who were you originally, I,ve lost all track since people changed usernames. Pipeface does ring a bell but I came in towards the end of the old 606.
MD 20/20. I got banned and ****s wouldn't let me sign back up so I had to sneak back in Can't mind if thats the name I used on SPN though - that was donkeys ago.
Oh, remember you now, I didn't actually join until after the split from the BBC, used to listen in when night-shift at work and always worried about my browsing history being checked. I signed up after the split, got a laptop at home and never looked back. So many laughs on here, some of the funniest stuff I,ve heard.
