Did Hughes make Fulham blunder? QPR face relegation but old pals flying highBy Sportsmail Reporter Mark Hughes left Fulham last June because he felt they were not ambitious enough. That decision is now looking suspect, with Fulham possibly finishing seventh if they beat Spurs, while Hughes's QPR face possible relegation. 'I felt my ambition for where I wanted to take the club was not matched,' he said. City boy: Mark Hughes (centre) returns to another of his former clubs on Sunday He took over from Neil Warnock in January and promptly spent £10million but QPR are in the same position as they were when he arrived - 17th. If QPR are to survive, Hughes will have to improve his away record. Since he left Blackburn, he has managed only seven away Premier League wins in 55 matches. "Since he left Blackburn, he has managed only seven away Premier League wins in 55 matches." FCUK ME! FFS that's alarming numbers, almost Hodgson'esque pre WBA.
I agree. Remember the PatPrick Barclay coloumn? That was in The Standard which is owned by the .......Mail!
For all my positivity Norway, it's Sparky's away form that has supressed my posting on away games. You will notice that I've given up posting in the lead up to away matches due to his performances and tactics. At home games he has got away with it due to us ... ( 12th man ) but away, I just hope that changes later today. The fans this season are fautless. We have played our part.
I know and agree 100% with that. Even the Villa game when we went 2 up we got away with a lucky draw, says it all really.
I've noticed this and share your concern. I agree. We have to approach away games with the purpose and belief we have at home. It's a bit too late in the day for that this time round and this afternoon will be no different imo. I'd love to be wrong on this. It's a mindset that has to change next season. As for the fans, it'll possibly hearten a few to hear the most recent feedback I get at work is that we are "horrible" and "scummy". Genuine words I heard used about us up here after the Spurs game.
That's true to an extent Telford, and the reason for that is that we don't bow down to your Bale's and Van der Varrts. We're 'Old School' down at QPR and we don't care for your reputations et-al. We just want to beat you and **** you off back to where you came from. We don't care about your former prestige and current status. Deal with it or move on. We've yet to be infiltrated by the middle class shysters that are taking the passion out of the game. We are QPR it's what we do. We're not here to make friends.
It's true to a very large extent mate. I should add that most of my work colleagues are "die-hard" Utd. and Liverpool fans texting each other in pubs after the others' latest misfortunes. Most of them haven't been to OT or Anfield...ever. "Shocked" was another one. "I couldn't believe the abuse they were getting going for a corner".
Ambition is not where you finish in the table. It's what you do when top clubs come in for your best striker. We'll find out in a month whether fulham have ambition. As for the lazy journo, assumptions are the mother of all f*** ups.
Similar to what I was going to say. Ambition is about direction, future plans, what you want to achieve and where you want to be...... not about where you are now!
No you're not...you're a yank. Yanks; like Queenslanders cannot ever be difined as middle class....You'll be telling me Don King is middle class soon...
