After Harry's comments about the squad following the FA cup defeat, does anyone else think that rather than to give players a chance and make his mind up about them, he simply deliberately picked a side to show the shortcomings of the squad in order to put pressure on the board to move on new signings? I seem to recall him doing the same thing at Spurs around the transfer windows. Is this classic Harry or simply an honest mid-season audition for the second string? Smart, or a waste of a spot in the last 16?
You're not from the Balkans originally are you? Perhaps he told them to play as badly as they did? Better still, perhaps they did so deliberately as retaliation for being told that they were on their way whatever the result? Or perhaps he just underestimated MKD. Always silly to rubbish the opposition before the match as he did by saying that whatever team he put out, they should be good enough to beat them. No, I don't buy it. There were proper reasons to put them out. Resting our reliables, not risking injury to them, finding suitable replacements who could step up to the line if any of them get injured and in Nelsen's case when he leaves, giving them a genuine chance to impress him in case CB's predictions come to nought. They should have been good enough. His mistake was to say so openly. The defenders especially could have been expected to play with a bit more fire.
Agree, I'm not sure if anyones pointed out the fact that at least 4 of these players probably knew it was their last game for us and about 4 others could have had the mind set that they are not going to make the 25 squad add one loanee to the equation and we have a recipe for disaster IMO. However there were nine internationals playing if you include Zamora coming on as sub so this balances Col's statement perfectly.
I would of played my strongest team regardless and keep a core winning mentality as the entire team wouldn't of got injured ? As a team anyone who played Sat could have come into a winning team in the event of a injury or suspension I say again we saw a disjointed team Sat and I stand that Park would play well if asked of in the current first team
That's what the guys on the podcast said last night....oh and one of them called Anton a to55er, and he meant it too.
I have been speaking to spurs friends and they say it was pretty regular for HR to do this when he wanted to prove a point about the lack of quality in his fringe players, usually in Europa league or CCC games I agree with some of the above to some extent. I still think the team we put out should have won that game, but i would sooner we played 3-4 more first team players, won the game and got into the last 16, than crashed out because the manager wanted to make a point. But if the point needed to be made and we now get in a few more lads then i would have to suggest it was worth it if we push on and get the points in the league. didnt hear the podcast, anywhere i can download it?
Just go to google and search 'open all rs podcast'. Go into the site and navigate your way through. It's quite straight forward. You'll find an archive of all podcasts. The panel ripped into Anton and Park this week. Mostly good constructive criticism and warranted (except when finney has his time of the month rant). They can say what they want, unlike London call-in.
First of all. making 9 substitutions is gonna create havoc no matter which players you have. Anton and Ben Haim never played as a central pair. Granero and Park played one match with Bothroyd and DJ. And during his press conference he said he was expecting a hard match against MK. And yet he made all that changes. I think he maybe expected to get beaten
eerr?????? Yes. Just something to throw into the pot as well people talk about wages/gates at QPR, i.e we only get 18K and how can that pay for players? Agree it can't but i saw these ticket price figures today on SSN. Aston villa Home £23-£42 Away £39 Stoke Home £25-£35 Away £25 Sunderland Home £25-£30 Away £29 QPR Home £45-£70 Away £50-£55 Agree they get more fans and i guess our rent (being London is more) but i bet there is not much difference in Monies taken.
