....and if so, what should Monk do about it?

Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe: "We should be standing here with three points. We're disappointed but there were a lot of positives.

"The players are beginning to believe in themselves a lot more, they know they have nothing to fear. I'm very proud to be Bournemouth manager tonight."

On Swansea's penalty: "He [Andre Ayew] has induced the penalty but the referee has fallen for it."

He's got a point (pun not intended) but they did deserve the three points.

Ayew had his ankle clipped by the defender. No dive, but not enough for a penalty either.

Definite penalty ...one leg clipped onto the other which eventually brought Ayew down .

Even watching it in slow motion it's hard to determine if he dived, so Monk doesn't have to do anything.

If it was proved he dived, then Monk has to take the same stance as he did when Victor Moses dived against us last season.

When I saw it live I thought the pen looked generous to say the least. But watched my recording of MOTD just now and my conclusion is that it was a great spot by the ref but a tad harsh as I don't think there was real intent there. Ayew WAS clipped and that caused his foot to catch his other leg. I don't think he would have gone down otherwise.

    Pen for me.

Jees guys, in all fairness it was a pen, we have had so many of those go against us in the past it is actually nice to have one go our way. Even if it may have saved GM his job.

There was contact made that resulted in Ayew clipping his other leg and going over. Had contact not been made, he wouldn't have caught his trailing leg and gone down. Was it enough for a pen? Not in my opinion, however, contact was certainly made and was the deciding factor in him going over.
A dive should only be classed a dive if there's no contact.

^^^ This is on the money! Having watched MOTD last night, there was enough contact, not deliberate in my view, that sent Ayew off his stride and down, it did look as if Ayew from some angles had tripped himself, but that was a consequence of the initial contact, and it's fair to say that it was a harsh decision, but still a penalty for me............<ok>

Anyone not waring glasses would never conclude that he dived.

Being an accidental clip has no Bering on the call , he was clipped in the box , it's a penalty.

No dive, 100% penalty for me. Also glad Ayew was able to come through with a relatively decent performance. There seemed to be a focus on Gomis in relation to how he was coping with the Paris attacks, but Ayew too would have been affected. I know he's Ghanaian, but having spent the majority of his life in France and also being muslim the build up to the game would have been stressful for him, but thankfuly he was able to be one of the 'better' players on the day and get on the score-sheet with a beauty!!

Swansea City’s André Ayew leads the English top-flight as the most fouled player this season.
The Swans forward has suffered 37 fouls, two more than any other player. Breaking the numbers down, Ayew has been fouled at an average of 2.85 times per game, or once every 31 minutes.

So pretty well in line with Gomis's offside numbers , except Ayew's numbers actually help us

An accidental trip is still a penalty as is an accidental hand ball. The ref doesn't give a penalty if he deems the player doesn't have time to react.
