Of all the threads Ive seen I think the one Ive really enjoyed most was by MR when he launched into not so much an "attack" rather some "pointers for improvement" on an ex pro now engaged in the media who insists on saying pelanty This reminded me strangely of one of the biggest put downs I think in Television history Mohamed Ali was being interviewed by a bloke called Dick Cavet in America...Joe Frazier was opposite MA and Dick Cavet was enjoying what we would recognize as being the WUM of all WUMS....In an instant MA turned from the heat of a venomous verbal battle and turned his full attention to the little Dick who had overstepped the mark. "Hes (Joe Frazier) allowed to make those comments because he`s an athlete.....You cant because youre a nobody" ( I paraphrase) It was fantastic and our Dick looked as tho he`d had fish hooks pulled out of his arse! Theres a list of media people I despise Barry Davies being given congrats on his retirement by Kevin Keegan...Barry Davies who would laugh or pontificate about some pro leaning back on a volley (I`d wager hed never kicked a ball in his life)...Theres a bloke called Durham on the radio who makes me sqiuirm.....Stan Callnomore who always browbeats any joe with an opinion and falls back on his "years" of professionalism....I did try to raise this on 606 by the way and was blown out....So there we have it.... Gentlepeople ....... I`d like to propose an on going Dick of the week in rememberence of a once beautifully stuffed "Dick" Cavet

Hilarious irony that you can criticise a commentator having never picked up a microphone but a commentator has to have played Premiership football to give a view... Who are you, Andy Gray?!
Oh...and you know Ive never picked up a microphone...? (Are you guessing?) There are and have been many great commentators with great feel and humane touch.... Harry Carpenter never boxed ....There are some real good football commentators....this little thread was supposed to be about the ones....in your view....who are the self serving scheissters who dont have that touch.....Salut!
