With all this talk on TV/Radio of what the world was like 60 years ago, perhaps it is right to pay tribute to our own heroes of that time.

The danger of being part of a support that is accused (wrongly) of living in the past is that we can sometimes feel uneasy about celebrating past triumphs. In my lifetime we have always had a great love of the FA Cup here and much of this is down in no small part to the 11 guys above. 60 years ago we had just retained the FA Cup under the guidance of Stan Seymour - no small achievement. We would go on to win again in a further 3 years time, building on what these guys achieved.

I may not live in the past, but I see no reason not to celebrate it. So I for one would like to salute 11 heroes who added to the history and fabric of our great club.

    GK 1 Ronnie Simpson
    RB 2 Bob Cowell
    LB 3 Alf McMichael
    RH 4 Joe Harvey (c)
    CH 5 Frank Brennan
    LH 6 Ted Robledo
    OR 7 Tommy Walker
    IR 8 Billy Foulkes
    CF 9 Jackie Milburn
    IL 10 George Robledo
    OL 11 Bobby Mitchell

    Manager: Stan Seymour

There are some household names in there (for us at least) but a few that many of the internet generation will not know. Remember their names guys. We owe them that much.

They often play DVD's on the coaches to the away games featuring those guys and I could never get tired of watching them. Wor Jackies goals in the 3-1 defeat of Man City make the mouth water.

Talking of DVD's there's one out now of this season's highlights, Season Review 2011/12.
