So where has he been this past year or so? The bloke is looking the part in the middle and I cannot fathom why. Long may it continue.
Works hard, plays simple passes and is a good tackler. He's still liable to get the ball caught under his feet but as the defensive option from the CM 2 he is the best we have at stopping the opposition. I'm not getting carried away and saying this decent form will last forever but I don't groan when I see his name on the team sheet at the moment, in CM at least - he's never a number 10.
A couple of decent games and a very good one don’t fool me. I’ve had to watch too much of the **** over the last season and a half. One thing that does please me though is his work rate. That has always been a massive issue. He was a lazy **** with a rapist touch who couldn’t pass. For the time being though I’m happy to credit Rafa and the coaching team for getting the best out of him, then cross my fingers this is some sort of late blooming.
He looked great last game, so maybe he can keep it going. He won't play any killer passes, but still very useful in the middle.
