    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...e-January-West-Ham-midfielder-Momo-Diame.html

Newcastle have emerged as leading contenders for West Ham midfielder Momo Diame should he leave in January.
The 25-year-old has a release clause of £3.5million. Arsenal have also shown interest in the Senegal international but their main priority is a striker with Schalke's Klaas Jan Huntelaar top of their list.

This guy is a beast and he had Anita in his pocket at our place.

After seeing him at SJP and watching him on tv think he would be worth a punt. A big young strong player that we need.

Not sure why he'd leave Upton Park though.

Would definitely take him. Won't he be on more money than we'd be willing to offer?

    Yep, probably!

Diame is a class player and I think West Ham pulled off a major coup signing him from Wigan, because how the top clubs didn't recognise his potential and ability is absolutely astounding. Every time he comes to our place he looks the part. The 1-0 Wigan game last year, in the season where DT didn't know much beyond current Newcastle players and I gave her a "one to watch" from the other sides, I picked Diame first.

Quite frankly, a lot of scouts and managers have been very thick there. If I can pick him as a good player, what the hell are they doing?

In reality, if we signed him I'd be ecstatic, but it's so unlikely to happen now I can't see it!

Honestly think this guy is top class. Against Chelsea and us he totally dominated the midfield. Would have him all day long.

Reminds me of a more attacking Tiote, not quite as good at the defensive side, but gets forward and scores goals too.

I'd have him without doubt but I think its just paper talk. We supposedly baulked at his wage demands in the summer, so they are only going to be worse now. I'm sure he'll be on pretty hefty money at West Ham.

Completely agree. He's so good he's bossed the midfield of Wigan playing the way they do, and West Ham, playing the way they do, as well. To me that speaks volumes for his ability!

If that's true, fair enough. A top earner here is on like 60k, West Ham have Ravel Morrison on that don't they? <laugh>

Financially it would obviously have made sense to offer him up to 80k and pay less transfer fees to bring him in than Anita, but once someone breaks the wage cap, the other players get unhappy...

Tricky situation but have to say I reluctantly agree that Fat Mikes policy is the more sensible one for the long term future of the club.

Anyway I'm starting to have a bit more faith in Wor Vurn and his ability to adapt. Showing some tenacity.

Does anyone else not understand why this is the 3rd defensive/holding mid we've been after recently?

We have Tiote. We bought Anita and Bigi. Now we're after Diame. This means we'll have 4 holding midfielders.

Should we not try and go after a creative, Cabaye type midfielder?

Maybe Tash, but Diame isn't really best at being a holding player. Box-to-box the guy offers extraordinary power and is very good in attacking situations, while also being a decent tackler when tracking back. Also, our midfield has a serious height issue, and Pardew has us playing long-ball a lot... Doesn't really work! I think a Diame like player would fit, but if they want to give us Noble instead I'd not say no like <whistle>

Er not sure. I know this is sacrilege to some to say this, but I don't really pay it much attention <sorry> So I never really know if I'm up or down. I do randomly rep you all now and again just for the crack and because you all love it.

If it has gone down does this mean I have received neg rep? If so I have a fair idea who as there is certain someone I neg rep quite regularly just to wind him up <laugh> How would I go about checking what rep I have received, pos/neg?

<laugh> Go on "control panel" at the top of the page near "my profile", and scroll down... Green is good, red is Massa-like.

I will have sweet vengeance on the neg-repping-tosser!
