    good read

Di Canio recently stated he was ready to make the step up to the Premier League, saying on his BBC blog: “I have already proven my ability in League Two and League One, where there are many arrogant and average players and I was able to turn their mentality and help them become better footballers.

“My plan for now is only to watch the top level of football – Premier League and Championship – because the next step for me is important.

“I will be watching games in the Premier League and Championship because this is my future, obviously, and I hope one day I can be there.

“The right place for me is the place that has the ambition and the staff who want to bring in a winning mentality.

“The club needs to have set rules, which for me are discipline, desire, passion, work ethic and a determination to get the right results to make everybody happy, namely the board, the fans and the club’s players and staff.

“I believe I am at a stage now where I am a Premier League or Championship manager.”

Well we've been down the road of tried and tested which has failed miserably, so why not give this fiery Italian a try...I would definitely pick him ahead of McClaren or Hughes..

Yep. He gets my vote. If he keeps us up, I'd imagine with his contacts in the game and his style of play, we will see some good attacking football.

Looking like Paolo, and I will be more than happy.

If we go down trying to win every game, then it's a positive for next season.

We had to change it, the team has lost all spirit, belief and guts, indeed MON himself has looked beat for weeks.

Di Canio is a lunatic, we know this, but he is passionate, ambitious, confident and full of personality.

My opinion is he is a very good shout, as I said immediately after the news yesterday.

I do feel a bit sad for MON, and for it not having worked out, but life goes on, the club needs change, and the club needs us, massive 7 games, not for the season, for our future.

Does anyone dispute that Paolo will get a reaction? I don't.

Here's a school of thought that might appeal Cest.

There are questions as to whether MON's kind of lost touch with the game and maybe he is no longer able to make it happen.

When MON went to Leicester, he was manager of newly double promoted Wycombe Wanderers, and made a big impact, winning silverware, establishing Leicester as a Premier League club, and shaking things up a bit.

Is it possible MON is about to be replaced with the 'new MON'?

Di Canio may be a bit nuts, but there are certain parralels between their early managerial careers, for sure.

He will certainly get a reaction mate but if he talks to PRemiership players the way he did league one or two it may not be the one you are hoping for. Like it or not these overpaid, underwhelming set of ****ers we have as players will just tell him to **** off if he has a pop at them. They still get paid whatever and could just switch off completely.

Di Canio is fine dealing with lads on £200 or £300 a week who are desperate to keep their jobs but lads on £20,000 or £30,000+ will just laugh in his face. He may be fiery and he may get a reaction but don't bet on it being a positive one mate.

Mushy if that turns out to be true I'll be the happiest lad in the NE.

I just get the feeling the club have just lurched to the rear and I'm not so sure they can survive another relegation.

Tell you what though mate, if that's what it takes to rid the club of some of these soft ****e bottling 'international class' players, so ****ing be it.

The timing is ****, should have been after the Fulham game, but it's happened, and lets ****ing back the **** out of the lads for the rest of the season.

    Jack,

Sousa would not offend me, I do feel he'd take longer to bed in though, we haven't got time, this is not a season, it's the future of the club.

Down, and we are ****ing finished.

MonsMush, Yes but you don't have a front line, so you need someone who can make you almost impossible to break down, and Sousa did that for us, he gave us a defense that ended up the best in the Championship that season, before Sousa we shipped goals by the bucket loads under Martinez, after Sousa we new how to defend! I think given your current playing squad and predicament, he's the coach you need, and he has managed at Leicester, QPR, and Swansea! Just a thought.........................<cheers>

Like I said pal, it wouldn't offend me.

I can't see him being considered though, he always struck me as being a bit meek, not what we need right now.

Will have your Mr Laudrup if you don't mind mate....

    @ MonsMush

<laugh>..........Whatever mate, we have lost Managers every season, it doesn't matter to us any more, if Laudrup goes this summer, I have every confidence that our board of Jacks will bring in the next successor, to take us to the next level!...............<cheers>

Trouble is mate who would buy our shower of ****e? We can't afford to just let them go and we don't have any money to replace them. Its not just a case of clearing the decks but it has to be done and raise finances to find replacements.

Also, what scouting network do you think a manager of a 4th and 3rd division club will actually have? 3rd and 4th division ones that what. Don't expect any huge improvements in player standarda and look forward to watching the SAME set of ****ers next season but just managed in a different way.

Its all very well wanting rid of O'Neill but when we wanted Bruce to go Martin was a very credible alternative. Di Canio is probably a bigger gamble than S'bragia was and may end up being twice as poor. Far form a life line we may be about to throw the club a very heavy weight whilst they are struggling to stay afloat?
