The English domestic season got underway last night - 29th July with the 'Preliminary Round' tie in the Carling Cup. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/14245440.stm

With the first round of NPower League matches next weekend - the first weekend of August - do you think it is a good thing or a bad thing that the season has started so early?

Hi Dev, horrendous would the mot juste.
August should be about leather on willow, not leather on other types of timber.

If the football season is going to start this early in the future Devo, then why bother with a Summer break at all ?

Why not just play for 12 months of the year, and not be concerned about "burning out" our youngsters and International players.......
