Will the 1pm kickoffs for the two Southampton games make any difference at all to the hooligan pond-life [on both sides]?

Unfortunately I don't think it really does. If memory serves me then haven't all of our recent games been early kick-offs? If morons wanna go out of their way to cause trouble then a few hours either way Isn't going to stop them. It does seem less of a scary thought nowadays to go to the derby but that is probably most in part to the smaller hooligan element in general rather than amazing new policing methods.
I was watching our meeting at Fratton in 1984 F.A cup earlier on youtube (Glorious Steve Moran last minute winner...ahem ) and that looked SCARY!!

If history is anything to go by, there is another 'derby' that is potentially hazardous. Millwall vs West Ham. No early kickoff there.

The Constabulary in Glasgow have had some success with early kickoffs in Old Firm matches. Still, there is always an element that will get in one too many bevys for breakfast.

    No, for 2 reasons:

1: If these pond scum want to cause trouble, they will do it reardless of being intoxicated or not.
2: It is still possible to get drunk prior to kick off by bringing your own drink/drinking before you leave.
