So Pompey's next defeat {sorry - game!} is against Southend at Fratton park on Tuesday. Score ans attendance guesses?
I don't think Barnsley were semi-finalists? IIRC, the semi-finalists were us, Cardiff, West Brom and Middlesborough. So I'll say West Brom
It was Barnsley. After knocking out Southend in Round Four, they disposed of Liverpool in Round Five and Chelsea in the Quarter Finals, before going down to Cardiff at Wembley in the semis. It was an unprecidented yeat fro the FA Cup, with Pompey being the only Premier League side in the Semi-Finals!
Jack Whatmough makes his Pompey debut against Southend this evening. The 17-year-old defender is one of three changes from the side that lost to Scunthorpe on Saturday. Shaun Cooper and David Connolly also start, with Bondz N’Gala, Simon Ferry and Ricky Holmes making way Pompey: Carson; Devera, Whatmough, Bradley, Potts; Wallace, Ertl (c), Cooper, Barcham; Connolly, Craddock Subs: Sullivan, N'Gala, East, Maloney, Padovani, Holmes, Bird
Think AA has sent the players a very strong message - we've got youngsters coming through, play well or be dropped!!
*Latest Rumour* Someone says they've heard that David James and Herman are putting in a joint application! What a laugh that would be. How terrified the players would be
Just seen on the News Online coverage between Steve Wilson and a poster: Comment From wideblue yonder See any possible future managers in the crowd? 20:19 Steve: About 14,000 of them...
1-0 up at half time and playing well. Tom Craddock missed a sitter late in the half - could/should be 2-0 up now.
Southend down to ten men. Their young sub receives a red card about 5 minutes after coming on, for a nasty foul on Jed Wallace.
Apparently it wasn't nasty - more like the Ertl one against Oxford. However.......... Ertl was innocent Woodrow is guilty
